Student Online Safety Presentation & Parent Interest Survey Student Online Safety Presentation & Parent Interest Survey

Middle School Families,

This morning, our middle school students participated in a grade-level online safety presentation. The session focused on practical strategies for staying safe online, including limiting what is shared digitally, being cautious when interacting with strangers, and understanding that online content can quickly become public.

Most importantly, students were reminded that they will never be in trouble for asking for help. We encourage families to continue these conversations at home and to reassure students that trusted adults and community resources are always available to support them.

We are also reaching out to gauge interest in a parent-focused presentation. If you are interested in attending an evening session, please complete the following Google Form. If there is sufficient interest, we will follow up with our presenters to find a date and time based on the survey results. The survey will close on Friday, January 23rd, 2026.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting student safety.

Sincerely,
Greg Gelineau

SEL Framework @ NMS SEL Framework @ NMS

Dear Middle School Families,

To works towards our district-wide 90% SEL (Social Emotional Learning) proficiency goal, during the second semester every classroom will have a 10 minute lesson, twice a month during 4th hour classes on Wednesdays. The lessons this semester will focus on self-awareness and social-awareness, with an emphasis on communication, expressing gratitude, and stress management. We are excited to dive into these important mini lessons to support our students and community.

Please reach out to your students' counselor or Mr. Gelineau if you have any questions.

UPDATE:

We are in need of winter gear. Sizes we are looking for are adult small - xlarge gloves, mittens, and snowpants. We also continue to need adult M, L, and XL sweatpants, all youth sizes in tshirts, and belts.

We are excited to share a resource we have at the Northfield Middle School- The Raider Closet. It is a place that ALL students are welcome to use. The Raider Closet has coats, hats, gloves, sweatshirts, pants, shirts, shoes, and more! If you have a middle school student that could use any of these supplies have them come to the student support office during their study hall or before/after school and we can help them pick out what they need! Questions feel free to reach out to Heather Stanton Ims, School Social Worker at 507-663-0685.
