Principal's Corner
Dear Hirsch Hawk Families,
Happy Easter! We hope today has been filled with joy, reflection, and quality time with loved ones. As we celebrate this season of renewal and hope, we are filled with gratitude for the perseverance and heart our Hirsch Heroes have shown.
We are proud to share that the first week of STAAR testing was a huge success! Our 3rd through 5th grade students completed the Reading assessment with focus, determination, and a strong commitment to the goals they set for themselves. It was truly inspiring to see their effort and pride shine throughout the building.
This week, our STAAR journey continues as students in 3rd through 5th grade take the Math portion of the state exam, and our 5th graders complete the Science assessment. These assessments are more than just tests—they are powerful tools that help us tell the story of who we are as a campus, district, and community. We know how incredible our students are, and we want that greatness reflected in our results this fall when ratings are released.
As always, your partnership plays a vital role in our success. Please remember that our campus will remain closed to visitors this week to ensure a smooth testing environment. We kindly ask that you avoid picking up students early if they are testing and make sure they arrive on time, well-rested and ready to give their best effort.
Your words of encouragement can make a huge difference. Consider sharing one of these messages with your child:
-
“You’ve worked hard all year—show them what you know!”
-
“I’m so proud of your effort, not just today, but every day.”
-
“You’ve got this! Believe in yourself just like I believe in you.”
And for parents of our younger scholars—encourage them to share a kind word or draw a picture for an older sibling, cousin, or neighbor who may be testing. A simple “Good luck!” or “You’re going to do amazing!” can go a long way.
At Hirsch, we believe that every child counts—and every encouraging word matters. Let’s continue to cheer each other on as we move through this season of showing what our students know and can do.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our Hirsch Heroes. We’re in this together!
With gratitude,
Principal Patterson
