Dear Families,
This week at Sells Middle School we had so many fun and engaging things happening!
Our Creative Mindsets classes designed and built incredible museum exhibits, which were proudly displayed in the library today. The creativity, critical thinking, and attention to detail on display were truly impressive. Our 8th grade Language Arts team wrapped up their Edgar Allan Poe unit by solving a murder mystery. Meanwhile, our Spanish classes began reading their first novel, a fun and engaging story about capybaras.
And that was just part of the excitement! Many other fun and meaningful learning experiences were happening all around the building, from collaborative projects to hands-on activities and rich classroom discussions. Plus, a small group of our students, peers, and staff visited Plain City Lanes to celebrate their learning and hard work!
It’s always inspiring to see our students creating, exploring, and pushing their thinking in new ways!

IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Upload Absence Documentation via Campus Parent Portal
Dublin City Schools families now have a new, convenient option for submitting absence documentation through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Receive a medical note after reporting your child’s absence? Instead of sending a paper copy or a separate email, simply log in and upload it directly to the existing request.
After logging in, select More and then Absence Request. Click View Requests, locate the prior absence in the list, and open it. From there, select Upload Document and choose your file.
Using this feature saves paper, eliminates an extra trip to the office and reduces additional emails to attendance secretaries. It is a small step that helps streamline processes across Dublin City Schools. We appreciate families taking advantage of this new option to support efficient, timely communication.
Please remember that if your child is absent, they are responsible for making up any learning and assignments they missed. We encourage students to check Schoology, connect with their teachers, and reach out to classmates as needed to stay on track.

Want to help??
Help us Fund the FUN! Each year the PTO does things like feed teachers, host (free!) events for students, provide teacher grants, and so much more. BUT we can't do it without you! Your financial support (as well as signing up - and following through on your signup - to bring donations) allows us do to these things! Without you, none of the above can happen. If you can't make a donation, who do you know that might be able to? Do you know any businesses that might like to make a donation? We will definitely give them recognition! If you use Venmo, you can make a donation to @SellsMSPTO.
Follow us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/groups/sellsmspto for up-to-date information about everything that we have going on and how you can get involved!

Winter MAP Student Data
The MAP assessments give us the ability to measure student achievement and academic growth across time. Students participate in the MAP Reading and MAP Math assessments during designated benchmark windows throughout the year (Reading: Grades 2-8, Math: Grades 1-8). The MAP 2-5 and MAP 6+ assessments allow us to identify students as gifted in the areas of math and/or reading. MAP scores in the 95th-99th percentile meet the Ohio Department of Education requirements for gifted identification. Students scoring in the range for a gifted identification on the MAP assessment will be supported in their regular classroom setting through high-quality, differentiated instruction. MAP results are now visible to parents in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. Additional information about MAP, including how to find your child's score in Infinite Campus, can be found here.
