No School Thursday & Friday

November 5 is a teacher workday and November 6 are K-5 student-led conferences. If have any questions about when your student-led conference is please contact your teacher.

Dear Families,

As the PPCS Board and staff begin to plan for the second semester, we will be reaching out for your input and ideas. Please watch your inboxes for a survey this week (arriving Wednesday or Thursday). We appreciate your prompt response!

Thank you,

The Board

Student Led Conferences Student Led Conferences

“When students are asked to play a leadership role in selecting and presenting work to share with their families, they begin to take greater pride in the quality of what they do. A “progress report” becomes not just something given to them, but is actually something students have a hand in creating.”

-Leaders of Their Own Learning, pg. 181
As an EL Education School, we share information about student achievement in a variety of ways, most of which feature students as the key communicators. This year, we had to re-examine and reimagine what student-led conferences look like with the mindset of maintaining our core values and practices. In our model, student achievement is communicated in traditional ways and also in ways that allow students to take the lead in speaking about their own learning. Therefore, instead of our traditional student-led conference, students are reflecting on their habits as learners, successes, challenges, academic achievement and setting goals for themselves as learners. Those goals will be shared with families later this week. Each family can schedule a 15 minute conference with the teacher. Students will be a part of this process and involved in the communication. We want this experience to be a time when students and teachers are having real conversations with families about their strengths and challenges in school.

Thank you,

Jeneille Branen

PPCS and Bloom: "Healthy at Home" + pay it forward!

Moscow restaurant "Bloom" just launched a brand new "Healthy at Home" prepared meal service, which includes a pay it forward incentive.

Customers can buy a “Healthy at Home” meal, select “Feed a Family” and then choose Palouse Prairie Charter School as the recipient. Bloom will match it with a meal for a family in need at our school. Bloom will deliver the donated meals to PPCS on Fridays or Monday, to be given to families in our school community experiencing food insecurity.

The meals are healthy, made from scratch, and require minimal effort for a nice dinner. If you would like to participate in this program, just order your meal online, select the "Healthy at Home" program, and be sure to designate PPCS as your school.

Moscow Co-op Dime in Time

The Co-op has selected PPCS as one of their recipients to receive donations for our playground! Now through the end of November, for each reusable bag shoppers bring in, they will be able to donate their dime to Palouse Prairie Charter School, so spread the word to your friends and family. (Please note, cashiers have a lot to remember and sometimes forget to ask, so customers should feel free to remind them where to donate their dime!).
