QE Parent/Guardian Weekly Update
August 29, 2026
Hello QE Families!
Welcome to the 2026–2027 School Year. The energy across our district is positive and we are “Proud to be QCSD!” As we prepare to open our doors this Monday, I couldn’t be more excited to begin a new school year filled with endless possibilities.
Our official kickoff began last week when our dedicated teachers and staff returned for an inspirational Opening Day address from our Superintendent, Dr. Hoffman. That shared vision set the tone for the productive days that followed, as our teachers gathered in their respective buildings for learning, planning, and intentional collaboration.
Our classrooms are ready and the QE team is prepared to welcome our students and families back. We are ready for a fantastic year of growth, achievement, and community.
See you all on Monday!

K-5 Orientation
I enjoyed seeing so many of our students and families at the QE Orientation! Thank you for your positive energy for the start of the new school year. It is perfectly okay if you were not able to attend. We will make sure you and your child(ren) have what is needed for a successful start to school. Attached please find the slides from the orientation.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
I am grateful for the feedback from staff and parents regarding the arrival and dismissal procedures. We listened and revised the procedures and feel that we have a clear plan ready for the first day on Monday. We will monitor the procedures closely during the first week of school and then adjust as needed.
Please review the following procedures so that we can keep everyone safe, account for all students at dismissal, and be most efficient at arrival and dismissal times.

Dismissal Form for Parents to Complete for Walkers and Car Riders - PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM NO LATER THAN SUNDAY, AUGUST 30TH so we know who will be car riders and walkers. Car riders will be dismissed and will enter their cars in the pick-up loop. Walkers will be dismissed from either the Front Doors (those going toward Main Street) or Bus Doors (those going toward 8th Street/Park Ave). It is very important for us to have the correct information so we can safely and quickly connect students to their designated caregivers.
We have taken time to consider the best primary walking path for our walkers coming from the other side of Park Ave. After careful consideration, we are encouraging our students to walk to and from 8th Street crossing Juniper Street and Park Ave. This walking path offers reduced traffic volume and leads directly to a paved pedestrian path to/from the Sixth Grade Center. There will also be Crossing Guards at 8th and Juniper and 8th and Park Ave. We also added walking signs to help our families navigate the new path!
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we give time for everyone to learn and follow our new procedures.

Attendance Procedures
Here is a link to QCSD’s Attendance Procedures. All absences are required to be reported, and QCSD uses SafeArrival as our absence management system. If you have not set up an account yet, please do so at https://go.schoolmessenger.com. Parents can report their child’s absence 24 hours/7 days a week and future absences can be reported at any time.
QCSD Elementary Handbook and PBIS
At all QCSD schools, staff members are dedicated to creating a joyful, safe, and supportive environment where every student can shine. We focus on building a strong community through our Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework and providing tailored support to meet every child's unique needs. Please take some time to review the QCSD Elementary Handbook and our QE PBIS Handbook.
An important part of our school culture is how we handle racial, ethnic, or gender-based comments and behaviors. It is our shared responsibility to step in the second we see or hear something inappropriate. Whether it’s a "joke," a gesture, or a microaggression, we will address it immediately. Research shows that "calling it out" right away is the most effective way to stop future incidents. It interrupts the behavior and sends a clear message about our expectations. We don’t tolerate discriminatory behavior here, and I appreciate your support to keep our students safe.
Breakfast/Lunch Information
The Quakertown Community School District is a full Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) district for the 2026-2027 School Year. Therefore, all students, K-12, qualify to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch meal per day at school. Please note, this does not include a la carte items or second meals - students would need funds in their cafeteria accounts for these types of purchases. Parents can add funds to their students’ account either through the online system with SchoolCafe.com or students may bring cash or check payable to Quakertown Community School District to the cafeteria to be added to their meal account. Please include the student’s full name on the envelope for cash or in the memo section of a check to ensure proper credit.
Families that have been Directly Certified by the state will receive an email notification for their records. Since all students are eligible for free meals, online/paper applications are no longer accepted for processing.
If your student has funds available in their cafeteria account and will not be purchasing a la carte items or second meals during the 2026-2027 school year, a parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool may request a refund. Please email sreiss@qcsd.org with each student's name, grade and mailing address for confirmation. Checks will only be made payable to a parent/guardian on file in PowerSchool. Please allow 3-4 weeks for processing the refund from the time of request. If you have additional questions or concerns, please email the Business Office secretary at sreiss@qcsd.org.

About Us
At QE, we challenge our students academically and behaviorally through our state-recognized Positive Behavior Support Program, P.R.I.D.E. QE students are taught to persevere, show respect, be in control, show dependability, and show effort in all school and life endeavors. We believe every child is a valued and treasured member of our school family. You can trust that we are fully committed to ensuring your child feels respected, safe, and supported in their growth. When families, educators, staff, and students work hand-in-hand, we create the strongest path for our children to thrive and achieve their highest potential.
