Second Quarter Update

• The Kindergarten Team has loved getting to know your child this quarter!
• As a reminder, please send your child to school in sneakers if possible. We go outside three times a day (weather permitting) and sneakers are the safest choice for the playground.
• Make sure your child is not bringing toys to school.
• We said "good-bye" to Ms. Gil-Bautista and "hello" to many new friends in our classrooms!

What will we be learning?

• Recognizing, identifying the letter and letter sounds for h, k, v. wy, x, qu and z
• Writing using correct letter formation the letters h, k, v. wy, x, qu and z
• Identifying and writing all uppercase letters
• Tapping sounds to read simple words like mat, map, sad ...
• Story Elements like characters, setting, problem, solution, sequence of events
• Retelling a story using first, next, then and finally.
• Using illustrations to give more details about characters and events.

What will we be learning?

• Describe triangles, squares, and rectangles to include the number of sides and number of vertices.
• Describe a circle using terms such as round and curved.

• Compare and contrast two plane figures using characteristics to describe similarities and differences.

• Describe and label attributes (e.g., size, color, shape) of a set of objects (e.g., coins, counters, buttons) that has been sorted.

• Sort and classify concrete objects into appropriate subsets (categories) based on one attribute (e.g., size, shape, color, thickness).
