Daniel Feeney Preschool Update
November 17, 2023
Enjoy your weekend
It was a great week of learning at DFP, be sure to check your Class Dojo to see pictures of the activities, crafts, and play that is happening! A reminder next week shortened due to the Thanksgiving holiday and dismissal is at 11:15 on Wednesday for those who have school.
Please be sure to read all of the information in this week's Smore as there is information about enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year. Our Parent Evening is tomorrow night at 6 at Napper Tandy's, please consider coming - even if very last minute!
As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Warm regards,
Julie
Holiday Celebrations and Traditions
As the holiday season approaches, we celebrate and learn about one another's family traditions and celebrations.
Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza and if there are traditions in your family please share those with us so students can share those with classmates.

**NEW PEER APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR**
Peer applications for the 2024-2025 school year will be available on December 1, 2023. This applies to those who wish to apply who ARE NOT current students. The application will be available on our website and sent via Smore on 12/1. The application window will be open until 12/22. Peers will be selected based on a LOTTERY SYSTEM this year. Please contact me with specific questions, thank you.
As the cold weather approaches
As temperatures continue to fall, a reminder to please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the outdoors. This includes warm coats, hats and mittens (it is far easier and faster to cover two hands rather than 10 fingers) AND footwear. Also make sure clothing items are labeled. Thank you!
We will go outside unless the air temperature is below 20 degrees
Fundraising for Miss Maura
If you are unable to attend the DFP Parent Evening on Saturday, November 18 you can still support the preschool's fundraising efforts for Music with Miss Maura by making a direct donation.
If you would like to donate please make checks payable to the Town of Walpole and on the memo line write DFP PAC donation. You can send your donations to my attention at the preschool. Thank you for supporting our school and our students.
Supplies for DFP
Cold season is here! We appreciate donations of tissues, wipes, paper towels, hand sanitizer etc. they are always needed for tiny noses and hands. Thank you.
DFP Picture Retake Day
There will be a picture retake day at Daniel Feeney and this will take place on Friday, December 1. While it is a long way off, please make a note of it and notify your child's teacher if you would like a retake.
Preschool Tip of the Week!
To encourage independence and build those fine motor skills, try using a zip tie, a one inch binder ring or you can purchase simple zipper pull cords to help your child open and close their backpacks, lunchboxes, and zip their coat up and down.
We work on the preschool "flip" or "dip and flip" method to get coats on. Set their coat on a table (or a surface at their level), or the floor with the hood facing your child and the inside of the coat facing the ceiling. Instruct (or better yet, model this for him/her) putting your arms in the sleeves first (dip) then bring the coat up over your head and on (flip).
Report Cards and Progress Reports
Report cards are sent twice a year: the first on January 26 and the second on the last day of school in June. For students receiving progress reports, those will be shared the same dates.
Report cards and progress reports will be available on Aspen so if you do not have your aspen login credentials please let me know and they will be shared with you.
