Closed Campus Reminder: Lunchtime Expectations & Student Safety

As a reminder, Elk River High School operates as a closed campus during the school day, including lunch periods. For safety and accountability reasons, students are required to remain on school grounds for the duration of the school day, unless they have an approved privilege or flexible schedule.

Campus Boundary Clarification

Please note that the Furniture and Things Community Event Center is strictly off-limits during school hours and is not an extension of our campus. Students are not permitted to walk over, purchase food, or hang out at the event center during lunch or open periods.

Schedule Exceptions

  • Online & Blended Learning Students: Students enrolled in online coursework or flexing time during scheduled blended periods are permitted to leave or arrive off-schedule, provided they follow standard check-in/check-out procedures and have appropriate permissions on file.

  • All Other Students: Standard closed-campus policies apply during all lunch periods and study halls.

We ask for your partnership in reinforcing these expectations with your student. Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain a safe, focused, and orderly environment for everyone at ERHS!

Veteran's Day Ask Veteran's Day Ask

For Veteran's Day, we would like to create a display in the media center honoring all of the service members who have a connection to ERHS. Please feel free to add to this Google Slide; it's an easy to use template that you can personalize however you would like. If you would like, the seals for each branch are on the side of the slide; you can drag them onto the slide. Use a different slide for each member you would like to honor. Thank you for your help!

Elk River Teen Wins Great River Regional Library Card Design Contest

An Elk River teenager’s artwork will soon be featured on a Great River Regional Library card after she was named the winner of the teen category in the library system’s 2026 Library Card Design Contest.

Mallory Rotz, 15, whose home library is the Elk River Library, was selected as the teen winner from 445 entries submitted by artists throughout the Great River Regional Library service area.

The contest invited artists of all ages to create artwork for a new library card based on the theme, “Why do you love your library?” Entries were judged on creativity, design, and how well they communicated the theme.

Mallory was one of four category winners announced by Great River Regional Library in advance of September’s National Library.

Elks Tennis Season Recap Elks Tennis Season Recap

What a great Section Finals match the Girls Tennis team had with Alexandria on 10/13 at Stayfit Club in Sartell! Going into the match Alexandria was a slight favorite, seeded #1 and with a 24-1 record, compared to Elk River seeded #2 and a 20-5 record. But the Elks had a super close 3-4 loss to Alexandria during the regular season where they would have won the match had they been able to convert on a third set super tiebreaker. So everything was pointing to another great match for the section title. It did not disappoint. Two and a half hours into the match and the Elks still had a chance to pull out a victory and advance to the State Tournament. But the last two matches both lost in three sets, both having a tiebreaker that they lost. So winning those two tiebreakers would have won the match. So close. But in losing both, the final score ended up 2-5, not really a true indication of how close this match was. And that’s how it goes sometimes in this sport. But congratulations to Tillie Johnson for her straight set (6-4,6-0) win at #1 Singles, and to Leighton Wisniewski at #2 Singles (7-5,6-3). It was a tremendous effort by the Elks this season to win 20 games and come so close to making it to State as a team. With five of the starting 10 spots having graduated last season, the newcomers exceeded expectations, and the tremendous play of Tillie and Leighton led the way. Both Tillie and Leighton have advanced to the Final Four in the Singles Individual Tournament, both with a chance to capture the two Singles entries to State. Good luck to both of them, that event being held back at Stayfit Club on 10/19.
