Eye on FISD
March 6, 2026
From Dr. Gilstrap
As we head into Spring Break next week, I hope our Floresville ISD students, families, and staff have the opportunity to enjoy a safe and relaxing break. Whether that means traveling, spending time with family, or simply catching up on some rest, we hope everyone returns refreshed and ready to finish the school year strong. A reminder that when we return, beginning March 20, the district will move back to our four day instructional week.
There is a lot to be proud of across our district. Congratulations to our One Act Play program for winning their district competition, and thank you to our athletics department for supporting the many spring sports currently underway. We also want to recognize both of our elementary campuses for raising funds to support student learning, as well as our middle school athletes, including the 8th grade Jaguars who finished their season undefeated in district play. Just as important are the everyday efforts happening in classrooms across Floresville ISD. Our students continue to work hard, and we are grateful to the families and staff who support them each day.
We previously shared that a calendar recommendation would be included in this month’s board agenda. However, during recent updates and earlier surveys, the idea of a calendar divided by semester was introduced as another option. Administration presented several options to the Calendar Committee, and the semester based idea received positive feedback. Because of that interest, we felt it was important to gather additional feedback from both staff and families before making a recommendation. A survey is currently open with two options: one similar to this year and another with a traditional fall semester and Fridays off in the spring. We encourage everyone to take a moment to complete the survey, as this feedback will help guide the calendar recommendation presented next month.
Thank you for your continued support of Floresville ISD. Our community partnership, combined with the dedication of our staff, plays a vital role in the success of our students.
Together We Thrive.
Sincerely,
Dr. Gilstrap
Superintendent

New Anonymous Reporting Tool Coming to FISD
Floresville ISD is proud to partner with Lightspeed STOPit, a nationally recognized leader in school safety and wellness. The district will soon transition from the StayAlert anonymous reporting system to the STOPit platform, providing a more modern and user friendly way for students, staff, and families to report concerns.
What STOPit allows users to do:
-
Report concerns such as bullying, school violence, self harm, or inappropriate behavior anonymously
-
Attach photos or videos when submitting a report
-
Communicate directly with school leaders through two way messaging
-
Access Crisis Text Line to connect with trained counselors any time support is needed
Transition Timeline:
-
Now – March 31: StayAlert will remain active while students and staff are trained on STOPit
-
March 31: Last day StayAlert will forward reports
-
April 1: All reporting will move to STOPit through the district website
Families are encouraged to download the Lightspeed STOPit app, available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, to help us continue maintaining a safe and supportive school environment.
