Curriculum
Building Fine-Motor Strength at Home
Objective 7 in our Creative Curriculum focuses on helping children demonstrate fine-motor strength and coordination—using their fingers and hands to explore, create, and learn. You can support this at home with simple, fun activities:
-
Play with Playdough or Clay: Rolling, pinching, and shaping helps strengthen hand muscles.
-
Cutting and Pasting: Using child-safe scissors or tearing paper improves hand-eye coordination.
-
Stringing Beads or Pasta: Threading beads onto a string encourages precision and control.
-
Building with Blocks or Legos: Stacking and connecting pieces develops finger strength and dexterity.
-
Everyday Tasks: Encourage your child to button, zip, or use utensils independently.
These activities are not only fun—they help children gain the fine-motor skills needed for writing, drawing, and other school tasks.
