Why We Recognize Labor Day
Each year on the first Monday in September, we pause to honor Labor Day—a national holiday that recognizes the contributions of American workers.
Labor Day was first established in the late 1800s as a way to celebrate the achievements of working men and women whose dedication, skill, and perseverance helped shape our nation. Today, it continues to serve as a reminder of the value of hard work, the dignity of every profession, and the importance of rest and time with family.
As we enjoy the long weekend, let’s remember that Labor Day is more than just the unofficial end of summer—it’s a day to celebrate the people whose work strengthens our communities and builds a brighter future.
