Greetings, Fabulous Lower School Families!

It is hard to believe that this will be the last issue of the Grammar Gazette for this school year! As we are heading toward the finish line, I want to take a moment to thank you for a wonderful school year. We were able to maintain our vision of working to get back to normal, and I think we accomplished that goal. Thank you for your support and partnership throughout it all.

But...the year is not quite over yet! Still to come, we have our LS Music Concert tonight, Great Gatherings this weekend, our last virtue assembly of the year, and various end of year celebrations for each grade level. More information about these events will be forthcoming from your child's teacher.

Please note that the last day of school, Friday, June 3, is a half-day. Students can either bring a lunch from home or have a bagged lunch from school on this day. Dismissal will be at 12:10 for LS, 12:15 for US, with buses leaving by 12:35. There is no Scholar Zone or Child Care the afternoon of June 3. All students should be picked up or ride the bus home that day.

If our paths don't cross at one of these upcoming events, I wish you and your family a wonderful, restful, and rejuvenating summer!

Warm Regards,

Brooke Tousignant

Lower School Principal

Stay tuned for information about the 22-23 school year being sent via email, posted on the Nova website or shared on our social media network.

Kudos to the winners of the 2nd Round of the Battle of the Books! After 35 minutes of questions, 5th graders Colette B., Sig C., Mary G., Kingsley S., Jasper W., and Enya W. won the Battle, answering more questions correctly than the other eleven teams. They will be competing on Monday evening against other Friends of Education schools, and we wish them luck! We know they will make Nova proud!

The Regional History Bee was held on Saturday, April 30 at the University of Minnesota. Congratulations to WINNER Willa C., in 4th grade, and TIED FOR SECOND PLACE Motya K., grade 4 and Mary G., grade 5! All of these scholars (and Upper School winners James G., Garrett W., Nathan K.) have all earned an invite to the National History Bee in Orlando in June. Congratulation to these and all of our Nova scholars that competed in the Regional History Bee! :)

LS Vocal Concert - TONIGHT!

The LS Vocal concert is tonight! Each student is allowed up to 2 adult guests. Younger siblings are also welcome. Due to rising COVID numbers, we strongly encourage wearing a mask during the concert, whether you are a performer or an audience member. Thank you for your continued support and diligence with our mitigation strategies.

Grades K-2: 6pm-6:45pm (Students report to classrooms at 5:45pm)

Grades 3-5: 7:15pm-8:15pm (Students report to classrooms at 7pm)

Parents: Please stay in the Great Room until you are invited into the gymnasium by ushers.

Seating: Students will sit with their homeroom classes on the floor, in the front.
Families will sit in the chairs provided, or in the bleachers. There will be a 30-minute intermission between K-2 and 3-5. During that time K-2 students will be picked up by parents. Your promptness is greatly appreciated!!

If coming to both concerts, students 3-5 will sit with family members during the first concert, then report to their homeroom at 7:00pm for attendance. Students K-2 will sit with family members during the second concert.

Looking forward to a wonderful event!

Way to go, Nova!

What an amazing showing for our Boosterthon Fundraiser! With your incredible support through pledging and donations, we raised just over $50,000 for our Playworks Recess Program and Chromebook carts. Students had fun in the days leading up to the event with various incentives and crazy hair day as well as at the Fun Run on Friday! Thank you again for your generosity during our fundraiser! We couldn't have done it without you!

Great Gatherings Kickoff Party - This Saturday!

I'd like to encourage you to attend the Great Gatherings Kick-Off Party on Saturday, May 14! It is a great time to connect with Nova families and staff! Tickets can be purchased here or at the door.

An individual 'Gathering' is an event, party, lesson, or unique experience generously donated and hosted by members of the Nova community. That's YOU! Your first chance to purchase a spot at these individual 'Gatherings' is at the 'Great Gathering' party each spring. This large 'Great Gathering' party is an adults-only affair with food, drink, entertainment and a chance to mingle with other Nova parents kid-free! Ms. Tousignant will be hosting a bingo event for kids, a fitness dance event for adults, and the ever-popular Sleepover at Nova! Additionally, collaborative artworks as well as "Principal for a Day" will be one of the many items included in the Silent Auction!

See Great Gatherings general information for additional ways to support Great Gatherings, and Great Gatherings FAQs.

Traffic Reminder for Friday, May 20

On Friday, May 20th, Nova's Upper School will be hosting ASCOT during the day, which will mean Mercer Street will be temporarily blocked off from 9am until 2pm. As a heads-up, traffic in the afternoon may be a bit disrupted as students and staff help tear down and clean up from the event. We appreciate your patience and support for our students during this special day.
