DKHS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER

Big week for our kids with semester 1ending before break. Kids are working hard to prep for exams and secure their credits. Winter sports in full swing, follies auditions happening with the hiring of Nicole Krzebietke and Noelle Vroegop as co-directors, pending board approval. Follies dates are Feb 19, 21 & 22. Really excited about the return of Connie High from her leave and the new FPME class she will be teaching which will put high school kids interested in education, social work, other human

services careers into EL & MS classrooms.

The Winter Formal Dance was nice with 100+ kids. Traditional last dance speaks volumes to me about how our kids have great capacity to come together and care about each other.

Remember that our semester 1 exam schedule has ½ days on December 18, 19, 20. High school students will be taking 2 exams per day to finish off this semester. We have new floor coverings, and furniture in our Student Wellness Room and should be fully accessible before we leave for break. Kids have done a great job of bringing that vision together. Hoping it serves our kids as a place to de-escalate, debrief, resolve conflict, manage stress and anxiety that can impact their day from time to time.

I’ve invited any interested students who want to use their voice and ideas to impact our building to a new Principal’s Panel. That group met to do some initial brainstorming of things they think could improve student success as well as add to our positive climate.

We held an all school assembly with OKAY 2 SAY presenting important information to kids about their responsibility in helping to keep peers safe. The next day we had an alert from OKAY 2 Say and followed up with a student who was struggling and were able to get them some support.

Let’s have some fun before break - StuCo is sponsoring Dress Up Days for the week

Monday - Pajama Day

Tuesday - Red vs Green

Wednesday - Ugly Holiday Sweater Day

Thursday - Iced Out - wear white

Friday - Fun Sock Friday

Join in the fun!

It was gloomy start to Monday, but that did not prevent some of the Delton Area Rotary club members and the Delton Interact Club members from decorating Delton's tree. It's absolutely beautiful and ready for the official lighting ceremony tomorrow night! Our thanks to all who helped.

Congratulations to our Boys Varsity Wrestling team for going undefeated and claiming first place at the DK Invite! DK had a tournament high 10 wrestlers medal for going 3-1 or 4-0 to help the Panthers claim victory! Great work, Panthers!
