Character Strong Teacher Screener
Barrington 220 will be utilizing the Character Strong Universal Strengths and Needs Screener as part of our ongoing efforts in increasing a sense of belonging for all students, improving skills that support student well-being, and deepening student engagement. The Strengths and Needs Screener is completed by your child(ren)'s teacher and will assist our staff in supporting your child(ren) in the best way possible. While families cannot opt-out of Character Strong instruction, you may choose to opt your child out of the screener. If you do not wish for your child's teacher to complete the Strengths and Needs Screener, please notify Mr. Kirk and your child(ren)’s teacher in writing by Monday, October 6, 2025.
Continuing Construction Impact on School Arrival & Dismissal
Thank you for your patience during this first week of roadwork. We anticipate at least three more weeks of delays. Please make sure you are allowing extra time for your commute and drop-off/pick-up routine.
Office Reminders
In the event that you need to contact the school office for any reason, especially with a change in dismissal plans, you will want to send an email to both of the administrative assistants in the Front Office. Those emails should be sent to: Katherine West, who replaced Mrs. Harwood last school year, and also, Dani Kusmerz, who took the place of Ms. Rand. Their email addresses are:
kwest@barrington220.org, and dkusmerz@barrington220.org. You are also welcome to call the main office at 847-381-4148.

Roslyn Running Club
Roslyn’s Fall Running Club has begun. Sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 2:45 - 3:30 PM. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are invited to participate on their own. Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students may attend only with an adult present to supervise them. Parents may coordinate with other parents to supervise their K-2nd grade children. Running will take place primarily on the Roslyn Fitness Path and Roslyn fields. Supervision and activities will be provided by Mr. Nettis, and assisted by Roslyn parent volunteers that are helping to supervise their K-2nd students. Thank you parents for all of your fabulous support in our programs! The purpose of the club is to promote running, fitness, health, active lifestyles, and FUN! Sessions will include a wide variety of runs, running activities, exercises, fitness games, and even some popsicles. Students attending must stay with the Running Club the entire time, and they are expected to participate in all running club activities. They are not allowed to “wander off or just play on the playground” during sessions. All parents are invited to participate as well. It is a great opportunity to get some running, walking, exercise, and fun with your children! Running Club participants should bring appropriate running shoes, water bottles, and appropriate clothing. Students and parents should come to the Roslyn Gym at 2:40. Please be sure students are picked up at 3:30 PM. Sign up for Roslyn Running Club through the following link RUNNING CLUB FALL .

SEPAC Advisory Committee (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee)
SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Committee) is hosting two community engagement sessions for parents and guardians of students receiving special education services in District 220. These sessions will provide a space to share your family's experiences with Inclusion—what’s working well, and where we can grow together. Inclusion promotes equal access to all that a school offers by removing barriers and providing necessary accommodations both in and out of the classroom to support all students. Our goal is to listen and learn from families to better understand how inclusion is currently being experienced and explore ways to continue strengthening inclusive practices across the district.
