Social Emotional Learning
Counselor & Social Worker
A Message From Ms. Linsner and Mr. Zon
Last month the SEL topics for the classroom were all about emotion identification! Every classroom got a different lesson to learn all about our feelings. Knowing our feelings is super important at this age, so that if we are feeling something we do not like, we can change it; or if we see a friend who is sad or mad we can try to help them. Our current lessons are all about just that, COPING SKILLS. We try and make sure all students have coping skills in their toolbox so everyone can be the best student they can be.
Our most recent character trait was all about Perseverance! See below our Perseverance Award Winners. Our next trait will be Empathy! Teachers will be on the lookout for students who are being kind and taking other students feelings into account here at school. Please talk about being kind or being a role model to your children!
Check out some SEL resources for at home, to help your students talk about these topics!

Mouse Paint!
Kindergarteners explored color mixing, painting and sculpture with these adorable model magic mice. This project is based off the book, Mouse Paint, by Ellen Stoll Walsh. Kindergarteners first practiced mixing orange, green, and purple paint before creating little mice from red, yellow and blue model magic. They learned red, yellow, and blue are the primary colors and are so important when mixing new colors!
