Set to Go: A JED Program
The move beyond high school can be exciting โ and overwhelming. Set to Go from the Jed Foundation helps students prepare emotionally for life after high school and equips parents and educators with strategies to guide them. Whether itโs college, work, or a gap year, these tools are designed to build resilience, reduce stress, and support mental health. This resource (opens in new window) is timely and relevant.
Research consistently identifies high student-to-counselor ratios as a barrier to effectively meeting students' individualized needs, especially in under-resourced schools (Parzych et al., 2023). In response, best practice recommendations emphasize that school counselors should operate within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework (ASCA, 2021), where interventions are layered across universal (Tier 1), targeted (Tier 2), and individualized (Tier 3) levels to ensure that services are proactive, equitable, and responsive to diverse student needs (Goodman-Scott et al., 2020; Sink, 2016).
๐ Pulse Check: Class of 2030 ๐
The Class of 2030 enters high school this fall, and they may be the first cohort where college readiness, career readiness, AI literacy, financial literacy, workforce development, durable skills, and postsecondary planning all converge into a single challenge. Not separate tracks, one student, four years.
We want to hear from Pennsylvania educators about how you're approaching this moment. What is your school or district newly implementing this year for this class? What do you wish you were doing to prepare this class that you're not doing yet, and what's getting in the way?
Take two minutes to share your perspective. Your responses (opens in new window) will shape how we support districts across the state.

New Legislation Moving Forward โ PA School Counseling Services Act
In March 2026, the Pennsylvania House Education Committee advanced legislation that would set guidelines requiring at least 80% of a school counselor's time be used for delivering services to students, addressing the issue of counselors being pulled into non-counseling duties like test administration. Safe2Say Something Updates
Amendments to Pennsylvania law under Act 47 of 2025 regarding the disposition of Safe2Say Something reports took effect 60 days after the act's enactment โ counselors should make sure they're up to date on any procedural changes this created in their buildings. Read more here (opens in new window).
