Principals' greeting
Dear Pleasant Valley Families,
It has been a great state testing cycle for SBAC this year. The students have been working hard to show off their knowledge and shine over a two week period. On Tuesday our 5th and 8th graders will complete their state science WCAS testing. Please make sure your student gets plenty of rest and, 8th grade parents, make sure they have a fully charged Chromebook on Tuesday. We believe the positive testing culture and emphasis on doing our best at Pleasant Valley will pay off for our students this year. They have all worked very hard to get to this point and we are so happy and proud of their efforts and progress at school.
The countdown to the end of the year is getting closer, but we still have lots of work to do at Pleasant Valley. Next week we will be sending our 6th grade team to Outdoor School. This is a fantastic experience and opportunity for our students to learn in another setting and also bond as a class. We are thankful for our 6th grade team and all of their hard work and dedication in getting this together to support PVM students.
Finally, we are still working hard to make sure we keep our foot on the academic accelerator as we wrap up this school year. Teachers have focused plans to keep students engaged and growing on each and every day until the end of the school year. In addition, our teams are working hard to plan for next year as well. There are still a number of questions on staffing and program elements for the fall. As we learn additional information, we will do our best to be transparent about changes and plans for your student and family at PVM.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership with our teachers, staff and administration. We look forward to a great end of the year and the run up to summer. If you need anything, please feel free to reach out to Pleasant Valley so we can support your family.
Have a great week-
Austin Brothers (Principal)
Erin Thompson (Assistant Principal)

Notes from the Nurse - end-of-year med pickup, updating emergency forms etc
Greetings from Pleasant Valley Nursing Team.
Please make arrangements to pick up any medications your child may have left over at school after the final day of student attendance.
Medication can be picked up by an adult through the health room during normal school business hours by June18th, 2025. Any leftover medications still in the health room at the end of the school year will be stored in a locked cabinet until 3pm on June 26, 2025. Medications that remain at school after that time shall be destroyed.
End of the year paperwork (medication at school, emergency action plan, asthma questionnaire, and life threatening health condition forms), to include paperwork to be signed/completed for the following school year 2025-26, was e-mailed to parents/guardians May 13, 2025. All paperwork is to be updated every school year. Instructions were provided in the email. If you need a hard copy of any forms, please contact your school's nurse's office. (PVM call 360-885-5500)
Thank you for allowing us to meet your child's health care needs while at Pleasant Valley Middle School!
Updating Tdap vaccination for students moving up to 7th grade
Incoming 7th grade students: 7th grade is the year students will need a Tdap booster vaccination. Please verify with your healthcare provider that your child is up to date on vaccinations. Please give updated vaccination records to the school when the school office is open again in August, if you have received vaccinations over the summer.
Annual Update of forms in Family Access
Please be sure to complete the 2025/26 Annual Update in your Family Access account when it becomes available in August. This is how contact info, health info, emergency contacts etc are updated each year. Health information in the computer this year WILL NOT pull through to next year; health information must be re-entered EVERY year, or there will not be a record of your student's medical information in our system.
WA immunization requirements
Life threatening health condition/allergy
If your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy, we must have updated health information each year as well as medication at school forms for any rescue medications that need to be kept at the nurse's office at school. Parents and nurses work together to create an Emergency Action Plan (EAP) for what to do for your child in the case of a medical emergency. Please contact our nurses if your student has a life threatening medical condition/allergy and you have not already alerted the school and had an EAP created. Students and parents will need to meet with nurses before a student may self-carry any rescue medications.

Updating contact and health information
Parents/guardians please make sure you are updating the School Health Form in Skyward each year so that we have correct and current information regarding your child/ren (complete the "Update" in Skyward Family Access. Update opens August 1st each year to update school forms.). Skyward does not pull information forward each school year. There are many School Health Forms that have not been updated for 2-4 years. We need current information and this is how we most often know if your child has a Life threatening health condition. We want to keep your child/ren safe while at school and we can't do our job if we do not have correct and updated information.
Thank you for your time in this important matter.
From your School Nurse Janel Salisbury, BSN, RN & Building Nurse Diane Davis, LPN

Report incidents anonymously with Vector Solutions reporting system
Report, don’t repost
If you see or hear of a possible threat, please report it to law enforcement directly and/or to school staff. This is the best and most helpful action because it begins an investigation and helps to limit the potential for misinformation to spread.
Reposting or sharing a threat on social media in an attempt to warn others spreads the threat farther from its original source and may cause unnecessary alarm and fear.
You can report bullying, intimidation, harassment, threats and safety concerns using our anonymous reporting system. Emergencies should always be reported to 911.
