Principal Weekly Update to Families
Week of October 26th - October 30th
Brief Message From the Principal
Dear Jayhawk Elementary Families,
Thank You, Jayhawk Families!
A sincere thank-you to all of our families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences this past week! We appreciate you taking the time to connect with our teachers, celebrate student progress, and work together to support your childβs learning and growth.
One thing that makes Jayhawk Elementary special is the strong partnership we share with our families. Over the past three years, JES has consistently achieved well over a 95% family attendance rate at parent-teacher conferences across all grade levels. This reflects our fall and spring conference attendance and is something we are incredibly proud of!
Thank you for making education a team effort. Your involvement, encouragement, and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students. We are grateful to be part of such a supportive school community!
Celebrating Student Progress at JES! π
We are excited to share an update on our intervention efforts at Jayhawk Elementary! Over the past four weeks, students in grades 1β6 have participated in weekly FastBridge intervention activities, with most grade levels working on both reading and math skills.
What does this mean for your child? Teachers use beginning-of-the-year assessments to identify each studentβs current skills and determine where extra practice, support, or enrichment may be helpful. Students then participate in targeted activities designed to strengthen those skills. Teachers regularly check progress to see how students are growing and use that information to guide next steps.
We are thrilled to report that close to 90% of our students in grades 1β6 have already made progress in reading compared with their beginning-of-the-year benchmark scores!
This is encouraging news and a wonderful reflection of the hard work of our students and staff. We will continue monitoring progress and adjusting instruction to help every student grow. At JES, we believe every student can make progress, and we are committed to helping each child reach their potential!
Looking Ahead: Halloween & Veterans Day - REPEAT

π Halloween Parade & Party Reminder! π»
As we look forward to our Halloween parade and classroom parties next Friday, October 30, we ask families to help students choose school-appropriate costumes that are comfortable and allow them to participate safely throughout the school day.
Please remember that props and toy weapons should be left at home to help keep our parade safe and enjoyable for everyone.
