AVID SCHOOLWIDE
AVID Schoolwide: What is AVID?
Cocoa High is proud to be an AVID school. AVID strategies are intended to help all students improve their academic skill set. A big part of doing well in school is about learning tips and tricks that help you be a better student. At Cocoa High, every grade level has an AVID elective class, and to be part of the AVID program, students can apply or speak to our AVID coordinator Mr. Kokal. Schoolwide we incorporate the AVID instructional strategies related to WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading), because we know that these are the skills that ALL students need to be college and career ready. AVID is a mindset that connects to our school mission, which focuses on post-secondary preparedness and planning. This short video will tell you more about what AVID is and why it benefits our students.
