West Lyon Newsletter
October 2026
A Note from Mr. Reinking
West Lyon 7-12 Families,
Fall is officially in the air! It's hard to believe, but we only have 2 weeks left in the 1st quarter.
Students have settled into their academic routines, just as several of our fall activities are gearing up for their post-season runs. Whether on the field, the court, or the stage, our students have poured tremendous effort into their seasons. We hope you’ve had the chance to catch our Wildcats in action! From athletics to the fine arts, there are endless opportunities to witness the hard work, talent, and school spirit that represent West Lyon so well outside the classroom.
We have made an attempt to clean up some student attendance trends we have been seeing over time. With this effort to improve student attendance, please understand there are disciplinary measures taken. Most often, would be students who are late for school. While the notification from parents is helpful when it comes to accounting for a missing student, it does not excuse the missing of class. Student Attendance begins on pg. 21 of the handbook linked here.
In this month’s newsletter, you’ll find key dates to mark on your family calendar, as well as spotlight features highlighting the great work happening across our different academic departments.
As always, thank you for your continued support of our school community. If you ever have any questions, ideas, or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Go Wildcats!

On Tuesday, October 20th the choir will be performing in the auditorium. The concert theme is "America 250". Fall Musical
This year's Fall Musical is Anastasia. Years after a military coup wiped out the Russian royal family and established the communist resiem, a young woman named Anya teams up with a con man and a former aristocrat to try to escape the country. Recently diagnosed with amnesia, Anya cannot remember who she is or who she was supposed to meet, she only remembers that Paris is where she is supposed to meet someone. Rumors begin to circulate that one of the daughters of the royal family may still be alive and spook the newly established government. Suspecting that Anya might be the lost princess Anastasia, it dispatches many officers to try and stop the trio from escaping.
Come out and see if the rumors are true. We have two showings of Anastasia and would love to see you!
October 29th, Thursday - 7:30pm
October 31st, Saturday - 2pm
Parents: While no violence occurs on stage, the show does briefly mention on a couple of occasions, the killing of the entire Russian Royal family, children and all. If you have any questions about the specific contents of the show, whether or not it is right for your family, please contact Joshua Nobles or Lindsay Lindaman by calling the school, or sending an email.
