An Update from Jason

Dear All,

I hope you had a lovely weekend and that all is great. I had lots of chores and errands this weekend. I saw my dad and Lily G., and we are getting ready for our visitors to celebrate Lily's UVM graduation in two weeks. All in all, it was a routine weekend.

This week, we have AP testing beginning, the VT State GEO Bee sponsored by the VPA, the All-State Music Festival at Spaulding High School, a few field trips, and teacher appreciation week! Yeet Yeet!

Thank you, teachers and staff, for your work, communication, mentorship, relationships, teaching, learning, time, and commitment to our students and community.

Phillip D asked me this week why I work at MHS, and you all are one of the top reasons. While we work in a system that bends, pulls, and constricts at times, I also see the community within and how much caring, connection, and humanity exist within our spaces. It's easy to see the cracks in a wall- and remain solely focused on a blemish. I can also clearly see the foundations, the love, the commitment, and the connections that make MHS a wonderful place. We genuinely have balance. I so appreciate all of you, looking forward to our small thank you's/appreciations each day.

I hope you have a wonderful new week. Best wishes.

Sincerely,

Jason

“The daily routine of most adults is so heavy and artificial that we are closed off to much of the world. We have to do this in order to get our work done. I think one purpose of art is to get us out of those routines. When we hear music or poetry or stories, the world opens up again. We’re drawn in — or out — and the windows of our perception are cleansed, as William Blake said. The same thing can happen when we’re around young children or adults who have unlearned those habits of shutting the world out.” ― Ursula K. Le Guin, Talking on the Water

Measles Update from MRPS Nurses

We wanted to inform you that Measles cases are rising in the U.S., Canada, and other countries. Measles is a highly contagious respiratory virus that can be dangerous, especially for babies and young children. Symptoms usually start with a high fever, then a cough, runny nose, and red and watery eyes. A rash usually appears three to five days after the first symptoms. Babies, young children, and people with weak immune systems are at higher risk of getting very sick from measles. Two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are 97% effective against measles. If you are not up to date on immunizations, please check in with your primary care provider.
