We are hosting the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest on February 17th. Students that earn a 1st division rating on a solo or ensemble will earn a letter jacket if they have not already done so. Students that play a Class 1 solo (from memory) or and Class 1 ensemble and earn a 1st division rating will advance to the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest at the end of May in Austin, TX. These state qualifiers will have their picture added to our wall of fame in the band hall.

All students who go to UIL will be responsible for the entry fee ($12). Woodwind and brass students performing a solo will also be responsible for paying their piano accompanist ($65). Piano accompanist fees will be due later.

All band students will perform at the Solo and Ensemble Recital on February 12th.

All ensembles will also be performing at the Casino Night on February 24th in the evening.

All students playing a solo are required to play with a piano accompanist. The cost for our accompanist is $65. This includes two rehearsals and the performance. This is the same rate and accompanist as last year. Students will pay the accompanist directly.

Some info about the trip:

• The trip dates are April 26-28, 2024.
• We will be taking charter busses roundtrip to South Padre Island.
• The price for a Quad room is $617 inclusive. That means four people stay in one room. All students will be in quad rooms.
• Chaperones will sign up for double or single occupancy. The price for a Double room is $751 and a Single room is $1,019.
• A $100 deposit is due upon registration.
• Prices may change depending on the number of travelers that register. This did not happen on our last two trips, but it is a possibility.
• Only current band and color guard students may register for the trip.
• Students must be academically eligible to attend this trip.

We will take one chaperone per 10 students. All adults on the trip will be acting as chaperones. Remember that all chaperones must have done the CISD Background Check. If you are interested in chaperoning, please contact Mr. Keyes before registering for the trip.

• $100 - Amount due at booking
• $103.40 - 1st payment due November 30th
• $103.40 - 2nd payment due December 30th

• Fair Share Fee - $300 (Varsity and JV)
