This week, twenty 8th-grade girls, accompanied by Mrs. Blasz and Mrs. Sims, attended the Northwest Indiana N.E.W. Conference. The event, held at County Line Orchard, featured more than 30 women working in non-traditional careers, including construction, aerospace, the military, computer technology, firefighting, NIPSCO, surveying, and more.
The students took part in round-table discussions where they learned about each woman’s career, responsibilities, and salary. After lunch, the girls participated in hands-on activity stations such as sitting in construction equipment, exploring fire and ambulance vehicles, bricklaying, computer wiring, and other career-focused tasks.
Throughout the day, the girls received numerous compliments for their positive attitudes, excellent behavior, and strong support for one another. Keep up the great work!
