News from the Principal
Greetings WE Families,
It has been a terrific week at Westchester. I see so many hard-working, engaged students as I walk through the building. Hearing the amazing learning taking place makes me smile. I love to take a seat next to a student and ask them to tell me what they are learning. I heard from Kindergarteners how they made patterns and how many sides and vertices a shape has. First graders were telling their teacher the “rule” of subtracting 10 to find the place where 49 would be on the chart because they knew the number patterns. Our students are doing a lot of thinking. That explains why they come back to you tired.
I encourage you all to stay engaged and informed. There are several district events coming up in the next few weeks.
- Dr. Whitaker's Winter Listening Session, February 5, 5:30-6:30 p.m., DHA Community Resource Center. Mark your calendars for the remaining dates for this year, April 28 (DHA); May 7 (WE); May 14 (online)
CSD Safety Summit - February 4th 5:30 @ Decatur High Performing Arts Center
Board of Education Community Meetings: January 21, March 25, April 27
Don’t forget to mark your calendars for these upcoming Westchester events:

Have a wonderful weekend.
From your very grateful principal,
Christine Knox
