The Patriot Pride
October 19, 2026
Greetings from Ms. De Hoyos & Mrs. Jimenez
It was a short but wonderful week at Adams Hill! Our first graders had an exciting opportunity to visit Devine Acres for a fun-filled field trip full of learning and memorable experiences. A special thank you to Mrs. Guerra for taking the initiative to submit the grant that made this amazing experience possible for our students! We appreciate her dedication to providing opportunities for learning beyond the classroom.
A big thank you to all of our families who joined us for our Fall Family Breakfast! This year, we decided to spread the event over two days to provide more space for families, make parking more convenient, and shorten the breakfast lines for our students and guests. We hope these adjustments made the experience more enjoyable for everyone! It was wonderful to see so many parents, grandparents, and loved ones spending quality time with our students here at Adams Hill. We truly value our partnership with our families and appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedules to join us. Thank you for making this event so special!
We are still collecting donations for our upcoming Table and Treat event on Friday, October 30th! We would greatly appreciate any donations of candy, individually wrapped snacks, or small trinkets to help make this a fun and memorable event for our Patriots! If you are able to contribute, please make sure to include your child's teacher's name on your donation. Thank you for your continued generosity and support in making this event special for our students! โค๏ธ๐
It's hard to believe we only have two weeks left in October! Let's finish the month strong, continue making every day count, and make these next two weeks great ones for our Patriots!
๐ It's Bus Safety Week!
This week, we are recognizing the importance of bus safety and reminding our students that staying safe on and around school buses is everyone's responsibility! School buses transport many of our Patriots to and from school each day, and we want to ensure every student arrives safely. We encourage our families to talk with their children about important bus safety rules, such as waiting patiently at the bus stop, staying seated while the bus is moving, keeping hands and feet to themselves, following the bus driver's directions, and always looking both ways before crossing the street. We also remind all drivers to be extra cautious in school zones and near bus stops, slow down, and always stop when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop sign extended. Safety is everyone's responsibility, and by working together, we can help keep all of our Adams Hill Patriots safe!
During the week of October 19โ23, Adams Hill Elementary will celebrate Digital Citizenship Week! This week is an opportunity to remind our students about the importance of being safe, responsible, and respectful when using technology. As technology continues to play a major role in our daily lives, it is essential that students learn how to protect their personal information, make smart choices online, recognize trustworthy information, and treat others with kindness in digital spaces. We encourage our families to continue these conversations at home by discussing internet safety, appropriate screen time, and the importance of thinking before posting or sharing. Together, we can help our Patriots develop positive digital habits that will benefit them both in and out of the classroom!

Red Ribbon Week: Making Healthy Choices!
Red Ribbon Week is an important time for us to come together as a school community to promote healthy lifestyles, positive choices, and a drug-free future for our students. This week serves as a reminder that the decisions we make each day can have a lasting impact on our lives. At Adams Hill, we want our Patriots to understand the importance of making safe, responsible choices, standing up to peer pressure, and surrounding themselves with positive influences. By encouraging these conversations at school and at home, we can help our students develop the confidence and skills they need to make good decisions as they grow. Together, we can empower our Patriots to make healthy choices and build bright futures! โค๏ธ
Counselor Corner
Welcome to our Counselor Corner, a space dedicated to supporting the social, emotional, and academic success of our Patriots! Our counselor will share helpful tips, resources, reminders, and activities designed to help students build confidence, develop positive relationships, manage emotions, and make responsible choices. We believe that when students feel safe, supported, and connected, they are better prepared to learn and grow.

Title One Family Survey- Adams Hill
At this time, we have only received 10 responses from Adams Hill families, and we would really like to hear from more of our families. Their feedback is important and helps us better understand their experiences, needs, and how we can continue to improve as a campus.
Please take a moment to share the survey with your families and encourage them to complete it. Every response matters!
Thank you for helping us get the word out and encouraging our families to share their voices.

Attendance Matters at Adams Hill!
When Should My Child Stay Home?
To help keep all of our students and staff healthy, please keep your child home when they are feeling ill, especially if they have a fever, are vomiting, have diarrhea, or are experiencing symptoms that make it difficult for them to participate comfortably in the school day. Students who have a fever should remain home until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication, such as Tylenol or Motrin. Sending students back to school too soon can slow their recovery and may expose classmates and staff to illness. We appreciate our families working with us to keep our school community healthy and ready to learn!
What to do when your child is sick?
When your child is absent due to illness, please send a written note with your child when they return to school. The note should include your childโs name, the date(s) they were absent, and the reason for the absence. You may also provide a doctorโs note to excuse the absence. Providing documentation helps us accurately record your childโs attendance and keep our records up to date. Thank you for helping us maintain accurate attendance records!
Birthdays at Adams Hill...
Birthday Invitations
We love celebrating our Patriots and their special days! ๐๐ If your child would like to bring birthday party invitations to school for the teacher to distribute, please remember that invitations must be provided for the entire class, all of the boys, or all of the girls. Invitations for only select students should be shared outside of the school setting. This helps us protect studentsโ feelings and ensures that no child feels left out or excluded. Thank you for helping us create a kind, inclusive, and caring environment for all of our students! โค๏ธ๐
HB 1481- Cell phones at school
As a reminder, House Bill 1481 (HB 1481) requires Texas public schools to limit student use of personal communication devices during the school day. At Adams Hill, students should keep cell phones, smartwatches, and other personal communication devices turned off and put away throughout the instructional day. This helps us maintain a safe, focused learning environment where students can fully engage with their teachers and classmates without unnecessary distractions. If you need to reach your child during the school day, please contact the front office, and we will make sure your message is delivered. We appreciate our families partnering with us to support student learning and follow state requirements.
