Athletes in Action
Our Cross Country teams are off to a great start this season! We currently have over 100 students participating as seen in some of these photos. The runners have been working hard, showing great effort at practices and meets. They continue to improve their endurance, pacing, and confidence.

Safety Meeting Recap
A big thank you to Officer Pat Kreis for joining us Wednesday night for a very informative parent meeting! He shared helpful information and practical tips around electric bikes and scooters, internet safety, and AI through his Parent Safety Night presentation. He gave families some great strategies for helping keep our students safe and he discussed some of the challenges that come with growing up in today’s world.
"We are so lucky to have Officer Pat as our Community Resource Officer and truly appreciate the partnership and support he provides to our DW families!" said Principal Jessica Groncki.
8th-Grade T-Shirt Design Contest
Principal Jessica Groncki will be collecting T-shirt designs between now and Wednesday, Nov. 4, from eighth-graders. On Friday, Nov. 6, Mrs. Groncki will send a Google form where students can vote on their favorite design.
Guidelines for T-Shirt Design
Students may create a T-shirt design either digitally or as a hand-drawn artwork on paper.
For digital designs, please use a minimum resolution of 300 DPI.
For hand-drawn designs, ensure the artwork does not exceed 11” x 11” in size.
Limit your design to 1-3 solid colors.
Use clean, bold lines. Thin or intricate lines may be difficult to reproduce on a T-shirt.
Any inappropriate, graphic, or non-school appropriate language will be immediately disqualified.
Be creative! All artwork must be original, created by the student submitting it, and not generated by AI.
Please email your design to Mrs. Groncki at jgroncki@d103.org by Wednesday, Nov. 4 by 5:00 p.m.
Rock & Roll to School
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Lincolnshire police officers will meet with walkers and cyclists to remind them of safety protocol. Officers will remind students to safely walk, bike, scoot, or skate to school to promote health, safety, and environmental awareness.
After-School Study Hall
High School Tutoring Offered
Looking for a quiet, structured space for your child to finish homework or get extra academic support from a high school tutor? Daniel Wright offers a free, drop-in After-School Study Hall every Monday through Thursday from 3:40 to 4:45 p.m. in the DW Library. No pre-registration, fee, or commitment is required—students simply report to the Library right after the final bell on any day they'd like to stay. After Study Hall, students can be picked up or take the late bus home.
Starting Monday, Sept. 21, Stevenson High School student volunteers will be available to tutor students at Study Hall. Tutors can assist DW students with daily homework, test prep, organization, and study skills. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Shelton.
Curriculum Night Rescheduled
Seventh- and eighth-grade Curriculum Night has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 30, at Daniel Wright Junior High School. This evening is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, learn more about the engaging learning experiences planned for the year, and see how we partner together to support student growth.
You will receive your child’s schedule in their First Period class. Please ask your child who their first period teacher is ahead of time so you know exactly where to go to pick up their schedule! Please read the e-notice that went out to families for more information.
