Dear Lemon Crest Families,

We had such a great week! The other LUSD schools came to visit the Festival of the Arts Museum in our MPR, where we had art from every kid in the district proudly displayed! Wednesday was the big performance day, and it was so great to see our Lions shine for our district! Students from Mrs. Harper's 2nd/3rd grade combo class did a wonderful performance with rhythm sticks! Lions, we are so so proud of you! Check out our school's Instagram @lemoncrest_lusd for pictures and videos, as well as lots of reminders of upcoming events!

In our daily morning announcements this week, we talked about solving problems safely and trusted school adults. Here is what I shared in the announcements, so you can use this language at home with your kids too!

  • Lemon Crest Lions solve problems with our words! No matter what grade you’re in or how old you are, sometimes there will be problems that make you feel angry, frustrated, annoyed or sad. Think to yourself about a time when you were feeling one of those feelings. Maybe a classmate said something rude or mean to you. Maybe someone pushed into you. No matter what the problem was, remember two things: 1. It is OKAY to feel upset, mad, or annoyed, but 2, it is NOT okay to have an unsafe body towards that person. Show with a thumbs up or thumbs down: if someone calls you a mean name and you say “I didn’t like when you said that because it hurt my feelings.” is that a good choice to solve the problem? Yes! How about if someone calls you a mean name and you push them. Thumbs up or thumbs down. Remember, we’re all working hard to help teach you how to solve problems, and it’s up to you to use your strategies AND tell a trusted school adult.
  • Lemon Crest Lions know they should go to their trusted school adults to help them solve problems! It is normal when you're in elementary school to have problems with friends or classmates. This is called conflict, and everyone, including Principal Price, including your families, have had conflict with someone when they were in elementary school! The great thing about being in elementary school is this is the perfect place for you to learn strategies to solve problems. We know that it’s never okay to use an unsafe body to react. You can that person to stop, you can ignore them, walk away, OR get a trusted school adult! Sometimes you might not know what to do and it’s always a great idea to go tell a trusted school adult. This is NOT tattling, it’s being helpful and responsible so you don't make an unsafe or unkind choice. When you tell a trusted school adult what’s going on, it’s their job to help you to solve the problem, whether that’s your teacher or a campus supervisor - those are the school adults who you see the most often, so they’re the ones that you’re most likely tell. You can also talk to Principal Price, Ms T or Ms Tami, but don’t wait to tell one of us - tell your teacher or a campus supervisor! We can help you right in the moment if we know whats going on, but if we don't know, we cant help.

Meet Ms. Tami!

Hello! My name is Tami Ferrari and I am so excited to be part of the Lemon Crest Family as a school counselor! I have been in the counseling field for over 20 years, in various positions and with a wide variety of clientele. I have found that the school environment is where I thrive and can be of the most help. Although I am not new to the San Diego area, my hometown is Cincinnati, OH. If you see a car driving around with a Cincinnati Bengals logo on it, you can be sure that it is me! Please wave and say "Hi"! I am so happy to partner with your families and students...helping them find ways to be the best versions of themselves.

Contacting Teachers & Principal Price Contacting Teachers & Principal Price

If you have a question or concern about your child, we encourage you to speak with your child's teacher first. Please note that during the instructional day, teachers and staff may not be able to respond to your message, email or call since they are busy doing what they do best: teaching! Your child's teacher will respond to you when they are able. Thank you for understanding!

Contacting Principal Price:

  • Email: jprice@lsusd.net

  • Call the Front Office: (619) 390-2527 - The front office staff will take a message, and Principal Price will call you when she is available

  • In-Person: Call the office so Mrs. Whitehurst or Ms. Madina can help us set up a meeting so I can dedicate time to you!

Many of your questions may be answered in our Lemon Crest Family Handbook A-Z . We ask that all families read this.

Please know that there is a 24-48 hour "grace period" in my response time. When I respond, call or meet with you, I need time to get informed in order to have possible answers to your questions. I am prioritizing getting to know our students so I can support their success and am often not readily available in the office. Thank you for your understanding and support.
