No School Friday 2/28
From the Principal
Happy Wednesday Cherrydale Families!
We have some exciting events coming up this spring! Here’s a quick look at what’s happening:
No School on Friday: Due to the mild winter, we did not need to use a snow day this year! Enjoy the long weekend, and remember there will be no school this Friday, March 28th.
Spring Conferences: Parent-teacher conferences will be held the week of March 31st on Wednesday and Thursday. Please remember that these conferences are optional. This is a great opportunity to discuss your child’s progress and goals for the remainder of the year.
Spring Book Fair: Our annual Spring Book Fair will take place from March 31st-April 4th in our school library. Don’t miss out on the chance to stock up on great books for your child while supporting our Cherrydale library!
Spirit Week: Get ready for some fun and school spirit! Spirit Week will be March 31st-April 4th, with a different theme each day (please see our spirit week flyer for specific themes and days by scrolling through our newsletter). We encourage all students to participate and show their school pride!
Spring Break: Spring Break will be the week of April 7-11. School will be closed during this time, so be sure to plan accordingly for your family’s spring break activities! We will see everyone back at school on Monday, April 14th!
We hope to see you at these events! Stay tuned for more updates, and thank you for your continued support of our school community.
Warm regards,
Christine Firth, Principal
Scholastic Book Fair

Highly Capable Program
A note from Mrs. Hannah Engstrom:
Every Spring there is a window of opportunity for 1st-4th grade students to apply for the district’s Highly Capable Program. Any family is welcome to apply. Students who qualify may have advanced academic skills, display an abundance of creativity, or are amazing thinkers. Application forms are found on the district’s website on this page: Highly Capable Program or you may request a paper copy from your child’s classroom teacher. Applications are due April 14, 2025. Evaluation and testing will be completed in late April. If you have any questions about the program feel free to contact me via Parent Square or email at hengstrom@steilacoom.k12.wa.us.
