Students at Don Tyson School of Innovation are required to follow the attendance policy outlined by the Springdale School District. Please take a few minutes to review the attendance policy and to regularly check your student’s attendance in HAC. Students that have excessive absences will lose credit (even if passing a course). Being in class ensures your student stays on track, keeps up with lessons, and achieves their goals. We need students to make every day count. A summary of this policy is below.
Excessive Absences:
Nine (9) or more absences in a semester, per class, will be considered excessive. These students will lose credit unless seat time is made up.
Denial of credit may affect promotion and/or graduation of the individual student.
The following classification of absences will not count toward the eight (8) day limit in which credit for the course or promotion will be denied.
Campus Activity: School sponsored field trips, assemblies, contests, or any other school activity as determined by the building principal.
Medical: Student absences due to the directive of the student’s medical doctor/dental appointments. Doctor/Dental appointments must indicate the day and time the student was seen in the doctor/dental office. Appropriate documentation from doctor/dental office must be submitted to the attendance office.
Military: Student absences due to military deployment on leave from active duty of a parent or legal guardian.
Families, Friends and Patrons of the Pat Ellison Performing Arts Center at DTSOI (“The PAC”) - Please help us keep our PAC auditorium sparkling through the busy holiday performance season. In order to preserve the integrity of the facility, please refrain from bringing any food or drinks whatsoever into the PAC at any time - whether during the school day or in the evenings. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
December 18th & 19th
A student is exempt from high school classes on December 18th and 19th if 50% of the proficiency scales taught in the first semester are at 3/Meeting or higher
A student who meets the criteria above but wants to improve levels of proficiency before the end of the semester can still choose to attend class
On December 15th, students will be given an exemption form
A teacher will sign the form if the student is exempt from that class
The signed form communicates which classes the student is exempt from attending
Note: All students at DTSOI on the 18th and 19th must attended their assigned class and under the supervision of their assigned teacher while on campus (even if teachers sign that they are exempt from a class). Exempt students stay home. Students on campus are not exempt from their assigned classes.
