PTA Update from the Eagle's Nest

Hi Bingham Families,

Ready or not, we launched into a new school year! To all our families, welcome to a year of growth, learning, fun, and memories (parents included). This first week is full of transitions and mixed emotions. I always find that taking a picture in front of school (not on the first day of school) turns out better. So feel free to pop by on the weekend for a retake; 12 years from now, no one will know what day it actually was. Our school is incredible and will continue to evolve throughout this year. There is still so much to come, including new signage, benches, and ongoing building improvements.

If you would like to be in the school to see your kiddos, we have lots of volunteer opportunities. Check back each newsletter for the latest opportunities. These are great for parents, guardians, grandparents, aunts/uncles... please make sure you have a current iChat on file with the office so you can be involved.

Did you know: You can sign your student up to get a bagel on Wednesday mornings or an ice cream treat on Fridays (yep - the days are different this year). These are opportunities that you can register for through our PTA Website - shown below. Please keep in mind that Ice Cream/Popsicles are for K-5 only during lunch. For Kindergarteners, their teachers may choose to offer this at a later time in the day. This service helps support our school PTA programs and starts September 10th.

All parents/guardians are highly encouraged to attend Curriculum Night. This is where you meet your student's teacher, learn about classroom expectations, and ways you can support your student during this new year. Your teacher will communicate the day/time/location of your meeting. Be sure to stop by the PTA table to learn more about how to get involved in the school.

All Bingham Farms families are invited to join us for our monthly PTA meetings. We meet in the Media Center to share updates on school programs, vote on how to support our classrooms, and hear the Principal's report.

Join us for our school's biggest family event of the year! With activities geared toward elementary students, kids can enjoy games throughout the school, entertainment, pizza, and prizes. There will be the annual teacher raffle for our students and a 50/50 raffle for adults.

Each newsletter, we will update volunteer opportunities for ways to get involved in the school and see your kiddos. No experience needed, just warm smiles and a willingness to help out.

We love school volunteers throughout the year. If you plan on helping out at school or visiting a classroom as a guest reader, a new iChat form must be completed annually and will be kept on file for the 2025/2026 school year. Once you complete the form, you can email it to LPfershy@birmingham.k12.mi.us or drop it off in the school office.

Help us support our teachers and staff with some refreshments to get them through these first busy weeks. These treats will provide some relief during room set-up, curriculum night, and all the fun that comes with welcoming back our students. Drop off items on Friday, September 5 or anytime next week.

Thanks to your PTA funds, we are starting the teachers off with gift bags filled with supplies to make the first week a success! Bags include teaching supplies, hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes, fidgets, and student school supplies to hold over until kits are unpacked. Teachers and staff are also going to be treated to special meals and snacks throughout the first couple of weeks. A special thank you to our student artists and families for the special messages with each bag.

This is our PTA website and the school directory. Our events, ticket sales, and PTA events will be listed on this site. There is even an app. Create a login, if you don't have one already, add or update your family's information for the directory, and you are ready to go. We invite all our families to be members of the PTA. Your membership gets you access to our Bingham Farms school directory, funds classroom grants, helps us to provide gifts for staff appreciation, host school events, and provides students with various fun, innovative, and educational items. It also helps us maintain our local and national PTA affiliation.

Class funds support our four class parties (Halloween, Winter, Valentines, and End-of-Year), treats, games, and crafts. By supporting the Classroom Fund, we will minimize our ask for donations to parties throughout the year.

The Bagel Pass allows your student to have a bagel once a week on a designated day throughout the school year. Click the image to prepay for bagels all year long. *Please note flavors will be Plain, Salt, and Cinnamon Sugar. There will not be condiments.

The Ice Cream Pass allows your student to have a popsicle or ice cream novelty once a week on a designated day throughout the school year. This sale helps support the 5th grade promotion. Click the image to buy an ice cream pass. *Pre-K and JK students will not have ice cream

Our teachers and staff do an incredible job supporting our students. As we enter a year of transitions with the school remodel, please consider donating an item our teachers to foster an engaging classroom for our kids.

A great way to support the school is through Box Top$ for Education. Long gone are the days of clipping the barcodes of cereal boxes or soup labels. Download the app, select Bingham Farms Elementary, and each time you shop at the grocery scan your receipt. It will auto calculate the donation and send it to our school! It is easy, and you don't need to know which food or supplies qualify for credit - the app checks for you. Now download that app while you wait for the bus, or in the pick-up gathering zone.
