Honor Differences & Care for Others”
STUDENTS SHINE THROUGH INFORMATIVE WRITING
Our young learners in the primary grades are showcasing their impressive writing skills by informing their readers on a variety of fascinating topics!
Kindergarten students are diving into the world of African animals. Each student is researching and writing their own chapter books, exploring details like diet, habitat, and other interesting facts. In addition to their narratives, the kindergartners are enhancing their books with detailed diagrams, maps, and fun "fast facts" to help their readers learn more.
Meanwhile, our First Graders have been busy researching and presenting on famous Americans and important American symbols. Working in teams, they explored the lives of trailblazers like Amelia Earhart, Helen Keller, and Jackie Robinson, and they also delved into the history of key symbols such as the Liberty Bell and the Bald Eagle. The students were excited to share their new knowledge with their peers, and their passion for learning was evident in their thoughtful presentations.
We are incredibly proud of how our students are using their writing to not only share information but also engage and educate their classmates. It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm for learning and their growing ability to communicate effectively!
GRE'S LIBRARY IS AWARD WINING
We are thrilled to share that Gold Rush Librarian, Mrs. Golish, was celebrated by the Board of Education on Tuesday for her outstanding achievement in earning the Highly Effective Schools Through Libraries (HESTL) designation from the Colorado Department of Education!
The HESTL designation is part of a prestigious credentialing program that recognizes exceptional library programs and school library professionals. This honor acknowledges the hard work and dedication Mrs. Golish puts into creating an outstanding learning environment for our students. It also provides valuable guidance on best practices in school librarianship.
In addition to this well-deserved recognition, Mrs. Golish received a distinction for her exceptional library collection. Her efforts to curate a wide range of resources and foster a love of reading and learning are truly appreciated.
We are incredibly proud to have Mrs. Golish as part of our Gold Rush family. Her dedication to the library and our students enhances the educational experience for all. Please join us in congratulating her on this well-earned honor!
PARENT INPUT FOR CLASS PLACEMENT DUE TODAY
We know that creating a positive, collaborative learning environment is essential to all students’ success. Creating balanced classes that meet the needs of all students is a difficult endeavor. This process involves hours of thoughtful dialogue between classroom teachers, administrators and other staff members. The school takes this responsibility seriously and takes each child into consideration.
We value parent input and welcome any insight you wish to share about your child’s strengths, needs and learning style. We will take into consideration all pertinent information that you share with the principal on or before Friday, April 11. While we welcome your input, we cannot honor specific teacher requests. Please share your thoughts on this google doc. Please make sure you communicate your thoughts via the google doc so we can track your input and refer back to it throughout the process.
SPRING STATE ASSESSMENT SCHEDULE: GRADES 3-5
After Spring Break, students in grades three through five will take the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) assessment. This important test measures students' knowledge of grade-level literacy and math standards, helping us understand their academic progress.
Please mark the testing dates below on your calendar. We kindly ask that you schedule any appointments outside of the testing window, as it’s crucial for students to be present and focused during the assessment. A solid attendance record ensures the best possible results and helps avoid disruptions to the testing process.
