How to Become a Volunteer How to Become a Volunteer

  • *Start Here* - BCS Volunteer Application. This is the application you must complete.

  • When you go to the tracker to complete the application, indicate if you're interested in Level 1 or Level 2. Level 1 Volunteers are always with a staff member when they volunteer. Level 1 volunteers do not supervise students on their own. Level 2 Volunteers can supervise students on their own without a staff member present. Examples include field trip chaperones for groups of students, reading groups, or other similar activities.
  • If you are unsure of your status, please email leah.erwin@bcsemail.org.
  • You will get an email each year to "renew" your volunteer application. You must do this each year. You can't do it early, so look for the email!

More about being a Level 2 Volunteer

  • If you're planning to go on a field trip with your child, we're asking that you are Level 2. It might take a little while for the background check to run, so please do this as soon as you can.
  • You do not have to volunteer "more often" to be a Level 2 Volunteer. It's only a. more intensive background check.
  • If you're ever working with students in our school without a staff member present (think, reading or math groups or something along those lines) we need for you to have a Level 2 Volunteer status.
