Happy Friday Hawkins,

We survived a rainy week with a lot of indoor recess days. Our 3rd graders started the MSTEP and worked so hard. I am very proud of them. Mr. Chernich had amazing 1st and 2nd grade music performances. Thank you so much to all of the families that attended. Our amazing PTO treated staff to a flower cart this week, where staff could create their own bouquet. I know everyone loved it, especially my wife. I have been staying close to my phone as my youngest daughter is due this week, no baby yet, but I am hoping to be a grandpa by next week when we come back. Have a great weekend everyone, enjoy your family time!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mr. McAuliffe

Thank You Costco Reading Buddies Thank You Costco Reading Buddies

The Costco Reading Buddies program is a long-standing volunteer initiative (since 1998) where Costco employees mentor elementary students to improve literacy. Hawkins students were fortunate to have Brighton Costco Volunteers provide one-on-one reading support for 30–60 minutes weekly over 10–15 weeks, using materials provided by Costco at schools and community centers.

🎶🎶Music With Mr. Chernich🎶🎶 🎶🎶Music With Mr. Chernich🎶🎶

This week, first and second grade families attended Mr. Chernich's music "informances". An informance is designed to educate an audience as to what a typical music class looks like for Hawkins students. It showcases the process and educates the audience. Parents and families had the opportunity to participate along with their students. Fun was had by all!

Jennifer Garcia, PsyD a Licensed Psychologist from Thriving Minds Behavioral Health will be presenting at Maltby Intermediate on Thursday, April 30th at 6:30 PM on Raising Resilience: A Guide to Identifying and Supporting Anxious Children. This session will help parents understand how anxiety works as a natural “safety alarm,” how to recognize when it becomes disruptive, and what it can look like in children at different ages. Parents will also learn practical strategies to support their child, reduce avoidance, and build confidence and resilience at home and school.

Kids Heart Challenge 4/6 - 4/27 Kids Heart Challenge 4/6 - 4/27

Hawkins will be participating in the American Heart Association's annual Kid’s Heart Challenge campaign. Your child will be bringing home an envelope for this event’s fund raising campaign. Your child does not have to fundraise to participate in the event. The Kid's Heart Challenge runs from 4/6 - 4/27 and will take place during their PE class. The money will be due the week after Spring Break. Last year we raised close to $10,000! Our goal this year is to exceed $10,000. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mr. Richards at richardst.sub@brightonk12.com

Just-In-Case Clothes Just-In-Case Clothes

Please make sure your child has an extra set of clothes in their backpack. Accidents happen while your child is at school (bathroom accidents, playground mishaps, lunchroom spills, ripped or torn clothes, etc.) and we do not have extra clothes to lend out. Having an extra set here at school saves parents from having to make a trip to Hawkins during the day. We appreciate your help!
