Fidgets at School
Not Every Child Needs a Fidget. What is a School Appropriate Fidget?
A school-appropriate fidget is for students whose learning benefits from a small, silent, and discreet tool that students use to channel restless energy, ease anxiety, and improve concentration during class.
Fidgets must be:
- Silent, not visible, and allows only subtle hand movement without making noise or drawing the attention of other students.
- No larger than the student's hand.
- Used discreetly used under the desk so as to distract others.
- Soothing sensory needs or releasing excess energy.
Failure to use them properly may lead to fidgets being confiscated. As with all personal items students bring from home, the school is not responsible for fidgets that are lost, damaged, or misplaced.

Steindorf would benefit from hiring more adults to provide supervision during lunch. This is a paid position for adults who enjoy the sound of children at play and keeping them safe from harm. Interested? Contact Principal Stein at: steind@cambriansd.com

Importance of Home & School Club (HSC)
Our Version of PTA
Every Steindorf family is a member of the HSC!
Steindorf is a public school. Funding is determined by government entities that focus on safety, academics, payroll, and facilities. The costs of what Steindorf provides students are not covered by the school budget alone.
What Does the HSC Do?
Steindorf’s HSC funds additional programs and services not afforded by the school’s annual budget.
The HSC organizes and staffs community-building events for the school.
Every Family is Asked to Contribute $450 Annually to HSC!
That translates to $2.50 per school day! Every little bit helps to provide vital programs and events, such as those listed below, to maintain our thriving school community.

Annie Jr - Registration opens Monday, August 24th at 10am
Calling all 4th–8th graders! Our annual theater production will take place earlier than usual this school year. We are excited to present Annie Jr., with rehearsals beginning in early September on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. Performances will be held during the first week of November.
More details and audition information will be shared this evening on our theater webpage at Steindorf Theater.
Registration will go live on Monday at 10am.
Spaces are limited, volunteering will be required, and enrollment fees of $280 will be mandatory.
If you have any questions, please contact steindorf.play@gmail.com.
Love Math? Crave a Challenge? Let’s Go Deeper Together!
We invite 4th–8th grade students who like math—and their awesome parents—to be part of the Steindorf Math League!
That’s right—we’re also looking for parent volunteers to join the journey! No experience needed; we provide books, digital resources and advice!
What is Math League
Steindorf Math League is a weekly, one-hour after-school program focused on advanced problem-solving. Classes are led by parent volunteers and intended to stretch students beyond the typical school math curriculum. All students participate in the five-contest Math Olympiad (MOEMS) elementary or middle school series.
Virtual Information Night
We will host a virtual Information Night to share more about the program and answer your questions. All families are welcome!
We especially encourage new families and families with students in grades 7–8 to attend, as we are still seeking parent coaches for our 7–8th grade classes. Parent volunteers are essential to making these classes possible.
Friday, August 28, 7:00 – 7:30pm
More information, including schedule and testing dates is available here: Math League Interest Survey
We can't wait to kick off a brand-new year of math adventures and discoveries. Let’s grow our math minds—together!
After School Enrichment Classes are HERE!

Join the Fall Festival Planning Committee!
Our Kick off meeting will be ON ZOOM at 7pm September 1st. We are looking for a group of volunteers to help plan the event (we will be reaching out more broadly for volunteers to help the day-of as well!)
We will be coordinating things like: Inflatables / Food / Activities / Logistics / Donations/ Volunteers/ Marketing
The event will take place in October, so we need to get started! We will meet regularly leading up to the event, at a time that works for our team. Please contact steindorf.fallfest@gmail.com

Students Learned How to Safely Navigate Traffic
Three age-appropriate Safety Assemblies were held today to teach K-2, 3-5, and 6-8 students how to navigate traffic safely as they arrive and dismiss from school. These assemblies were sponsored by the City of San Jose's Walk & Roll Program.
Ask your child about the 5 ways to look before crossing a street.
