Weekly Update 10/17

October 17, 2025

Dear Oak Brook Families,

Crews began replacing sidewalks in the back of our school this week. If you pick up or drop off your child, we are sure you have seen the fences and evidence of the beginning of the demolition phase. Please continue to be aware of any equipment that may be present. We have asked that they not use the drive during arrival and dismissal times.

As we move into the middle of October, we start to get really busy at Oak Brook. Please add these dates to your calendar because they will be here before we know it.

Monday, October 20 - No School (fall break)
Saturday, October 25 - Trunk or Treat
Tuesday, November 4 - No School (Parkway Professional Development Day)
Wednesday, November 12 - 1/2 day - school dismisses at 11:35

The week of November 10-14 will be our Parent/Teacher Conference Week and the library will host the Scholastic Book Fair. Sign ups for conferences will be sent home soon.

As a reminder, we do not have school on Monday. Have a great weekend!

The 2025-2026 Oak Brook Buzz Book is linked below. This document below includes contact information for students and their families. There were some issues with the previous version and formatting. Mrs. Reed has adjusted that and we are sharing in this form to hopefully avoid any further issues.

This week we will focus on accountability. We define accountability as being responsible for yourself and your actions. This is often one of the more difficult things to teach students. There are times when students struggle to see how their actions can affect others. As you go through this week, take some time to talk with your child about what taking accountability is and share times when you have shown accountability for something you did.

Registration Form

Please see the information below about an opportunity for students in 4th-8th grades. At this time, students in grades 4–8 and their families are eligible to participate in the trip. Additionally, due to high interest, we are now accepting applications from current 9th and 10th-grade students for a limited number of Student Leadership roles.

We’re excited to host a Greece Parent Information Meeting on Tuesday, October 22 at 6:00 PM in the Library at Central High School.

The meeting will cover important details including the itinerary, costs, deadlines, and ways families can get involved.
