SHADOWS ARE FALLING
BOOK 3
WINTER 2025
Late in the evening on November 18th, 1982, in the quiet town of Fishbone, Montana, a ten-year-ola boy is slaughtered in his bedroom. Just down the hall, his older sister moves through the house, unaware of the horror unfolding only feet away.
The nature of his death defies explanation-neither entirely human nor animal.
Hundreds of miles away in New England, Dr. Robert Qiu, a brilliant but haunted medical examiner, wears the dead like a second skin. Witness, to a brutal double homicide years earlier, the memory shadows him still.
After the boy's gruesome murder plunges Fishbone into panic, Sheriff Peter Stubbe severs ties with the local coroner and calls in Dr. Qiu, believing only he can uncover the truth.
As Robert arrives in the frozen, neon-lit streets of this remote town, he finds himself drawn into something far darker than he imagined. At the heart of Fishbone, a malevolent force is stirring. Some ghosts, he learns, refuse to stay buried.
What waits in the shadows-man, beast, or something far worse?
Will Dr. Qiu solve the mystery before another victim is taken? Or will he become just another casualty in this chilling tale of terror?

Durk followed Robert’s gaze, ping-ponging, back and forth between Robert and his pickup. From over Durk’s shoulder, a thickening frost swept across the land. Grey-bellied clouds filled the sky, amassing a dusty gloom over the days old snow. The room’s heat collapsed under the invading cold. Robert took a step back.
“There’s a place. Don’t even know if it’s still standing. Came to me when y’all found Mason. Thought maybe he’d gone there. I don’t know. The cliff where he fell—it leads to another place.” Durk stood slack-jawed, vacant, teetering on the edge of babble. “Too late now, can’t shake the feeling. It might be nothing. It might something...”
Robert felt his jaw loosen, his face going numb. What the hell was Durk talking about? Madness. The man appeared unhinged. Robert edged back a step. Durk took a step closer.

Re-Releasing Break My Bones: COMING SOON!!! — (September) Now with Extra Bite (and an Audiobook!)
Wrote this wicked little tale nearly a decade ago, back when I thought “editing” was a myth and my plot twists could bench-press a truck. Since then, both my writing and I have hit the gym — and Break
My Bones is finally getting the polish it deserves.
This deliciously twisted story is getting a fresh coat of blood... I mean, paint... before it heads to audio. Yes, your ears are next.
Stay tuned for a cleaner, meaner, and fully narrated version of the book that started it all.
A secret never to be shared.
A killer seeking vengeance.
Is his nightmarish fiction about to become a bloody reality?
Michael Kerrigan is delighted with his success. With his well-received suspense novels putting him on the map, the popular author trades his dark past for meet and greets with adoring fans. But his borrowed peace shatters when a friend he thought he’d buried dead in the ground long ago shows up very much alive… and hellbent on wreaking murderous havoc.
Trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse, Michael works furiously to uncover the shocking truth while dodging his assailant’s ruthless attacks. And with his sanity splintering as he processes years of suppressed guilt, sacrificing himself may be the only way to protect his loved ones from a crazed enemy’s relentless carnage.
Can Michael undo the sins of yesteryear before he’s the one thrown into a grave?

THE NOT-SO-STRANGE STRANGER
Two men watched the sunset from a neighborhood park. The first—the author—strolled toward a bench. The second—his nemesis—waited among berry-laden bushes, bracing for what was to come.
On a night long ago, not unlike this one, he awoke beneath the earth—betrayed, choking on grit, left to die by the man he once called a friend. A tragic beginning. But now, a perfect end. Time to set the stage and let the players, play. The location was good—too good. He settled in, hidden in plain sight. His chest tightened but his breath stayed steady. Inhale. Exhale. A calm spread throughout his mind as ether would consciousness. He slipped an earpiece into place, adjusted for range. Static filtered through the earpiece in faint bursts. He shut his eyes, trying to drown out the harshness of the signal.
THE MID-FLIGHT FALL OF KEITH SAPSFORD
In February 1970, 14-year-old Keith Sapsford from Australia, driven by an adventurous spirit and a desire to see the world, managed to sneak into the wheel-well of a plane at Sydney airport. The aircraft was bound for Tokyo. Tragically, the wheel-well doors opened mid-flight, causing Keith to fall to his demise. By sheer coincidence, a photographer testing a new lens at the airport captured the harrowing moment when Keith fell from the plane. The photographer was unaware of the incident until he developed the film, revealing the heartbreaking image.
ANNIE: THE CPR MANNEQUIN'S LIFELIKE CREATION
In the late 1800s, an unidentified French girl was pulled out of the Seine River in Paris after drowning.
A pathologist at the morgue was apparently so taken by her beauty that he casted a plaster death mask of her face.
This death mask would become the face of CPR
Annie, the most widely produced CPR mannequin in the world; an unknown dead French girl's legacy of having the most kissed lips in history.

Monster: The Ed Gein Story
In the heart of 1950s rural Wisconsin, a quiet, soft-spoken man tends to his farm… and something far darker beneath. Plainfield peels back the layers of a seemingly ordinary life to reveal the horror that shaped America’s most notorious killer—and the mother who shaped him.
🎭 Synopsis:
Charlie Hunnam stars as Ed Gein, in a career-defining role that strips away the myth and madness to explore the roots of a real-life American monster. Set against the stark, haunting beauty of post-war rural Midwest, Plainfield charts Ed’s descent—from lonely handyman to reclusive murderer and graverobber—through a harrowing mix of psychological horror, emotional trauma, and cultural isolation.
Told through multiple timelines—his childhood with domineering mother Augusta, his solitary adulthood, and the sheriff's investigation after a local woman vanishes—the series builds a chilling portrait of mental illness, religious fanaticism, and the American Gothic.
As law enforcement digs deeper, the town of Plainfield begins to confront the rot beneath its Norman Rockwell surface.

Review: “Joe Hill’s Jackknife – What Could Go Wrong?”
Okay, let’s talk about Jackknife. If you’ve ever wanted a masterclass in why running away from your problems only makes them way worse, this book has got you covered.
First off, let’s set the scene: we’ve got a man in the midst of the wreckage of his marriage. And by “wreckage,” I mean, his very real sins against his wife that he somehow doesn’t think are that bad. My friends, they ain’t good…
So, our self-absorbed hero, thinking he’s being all noble and tortured, retreats to a cabin in the woods. It’s the perfect setting for some soul-searching, right? Wrong.
In classic “I make terrible decisions” fashion, he stumbles upon a creepy tree. Not just any tree—this one practically screams “keep walking.” And what does he do? Does he respect the obvious warning signs? Does he get that the universe is trying to help him? Of course not.
He does something profoundly stupid!
Now, if you’ve been paying attention, you know exactly what’s coming. The tree has left ominous messages about not messing with the knife. But does our brilliant, self-righteous hero listen? Nah, he’s too busy justifying his existence to think through the consequences.
Spoiler: he unleashes a whole new level of chaos, and I’m left shaking my head, because did he really think he could just run away?
By the time the book hits its wild, mind-bending ending, you’re left wondering if he’s actually the villain of his own story. And honestly, you’ll probably feel a little bad for him... but only a little.
Bottom line: Jackknife isn’t just about running from your past—it’s about how you can’t escape what you’ve done. So, if you’re into stories where characters face the consequences of their delusions and poor choices, this one will have you screaming “TOLD YOU SO” at the page. 🤯
Owen King's The Letter Slot Delivers a Haunting Gut-Punch
This story lingers. A lonely boy with a sick mom, a crumbling life, and a mysterious letter slot in a derelict building—The Letter Slot hooks you with quiet desperation and reels you in with eerie magic. He writes to no one... but someone writes back. The offer? A shot at hope. But like all good horror, it comes at a price.
King doesn’t just craft suspense—he builds empathy. You feel for this kid. You ache for his choices. And just when you think you’ve figured it out, the mother’s hidden truth flips everything on its head in a heartbreakingly human way.
Creepy, tender, and emotionally devastating. This one stays with you.
A helping hand, a fateful cost. In this ominous short story from New York Times bestselling author Owen King, the cost of living keeps rising—and it collects payment from the soul.
Sensing his mother’s failing health, a struggling teenager pours out his worries in a letter and drops it through the mail slot of an abandoned show house. He’s surprised when a response arrives, promising good fortune for the price of just one name: someone he hates. He’d give anything for his mother. But the true cost may be more than he’s willing to pay
The bait: Zephyr, a free‑spirited surfer (Hassie Harrison), is abducted by Tucker (Jai Courtney)—a charming yet chilling shark‑obsessed serial killer who performs gruesome “ritual feedings” by lowering victims into shark‑chummed waters while filming the carnage. She must outsmart him to survive.
Dangerous Animals is a supremely twisted take on shark horror, where the scariest creature isn’t lurking in the deep—but right above you. With razor‑sharp tension, dark humor, and electrifying performances, it’s a brutal, memorable ride that shakes up the tropes of the genre.
In Conclusion.
Hope you all have enjoyed my newsletter.
Until next time...
