Join Our CPE II Solar Eclipse Viewing - RSVP Below

Because the eclipse starts just before dismissal, and continues as students are normally headed home, or to after-school, we have planned a Family Viewing Event. We would love parents and guardians to join us for this special event. Please RSVP.

The next time a solar eclipse with grace the skies over the continental U.S. is 2044, but the next time you'll see a total solar eclipse in New York will be 2079. That's why you really don't want to miss it.

Students who ride buses, will receive safety viewing glasses as they board the bus. All other students will receive them either as they are dismissed or in their afterschool group.

During the Solar Eclipse don't look directly at the sun.

During the April 8th Solar Eclipse, the sun might not seem so bright, but it is. Staring directly at the sun, even for a few seconds, can cause permanent damage to your eyes. This can range from blurry or distorted vision to something even more serious, like blind spots. Because there are no pain receptors in the retina, you won’t feel it while it’s happening.

That's why Children's Aid has purchase special safe viewing glasses for every child.

Families can also use a Shoebox To Make a Solar Eclipse Viewer

The moon will be blocking the sunlight

During this celestial spectacle, the Moon will pass between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun, NASA explains. It's a rare event that you won't want to miss.
