Dear Sampson Families,

Dear Sampson Families and Staff,

There is nothing I enjoy more than greeting our Sampson students each morning as they arrive for another great day of learning! Unfortunately, I have been spending much of that time reminding parents and guardians to follow our established arrival and dismissal procedures.

Please remember that our arrival and dismissal procedures are in place for one very important reason—the safety of our students and staff.

While I enjoy waving to all of you as you exit the car rider line each morning, I would much rather spend that time welcoming our students, sharing a smile, and wishing them a day filled with learning and fun! 😊

If you have specific questions regarding any of our arrival or dismissal procedures, please feel free to reach out. Otherwise, the procedures below remain in place, and I ask that everyone take a moment to review and follow them each day.

Walkers & Bike Riders

If your student is designated as a walker or bike rider, they should walk or bike to and from their home within the neighborhood.

Parking along Coles Crossing Drive, Coles Crossing Drive North, Coles Crossing Pool Parking Lot, or in the back Staff Parking Lot to drop off or pick up your student is not permitted and creates additional safety concerns. Vehicles entering, exiting, parking, and pulling away in areas heavily traveled by our walkers and bike riders create unnecessary movement and increase the risk to our students.

Car Riders

If you are transporting your student to or from school in a vehicle, please use the designated car rider line and remain in your vehicle.

For the safety of our walking and biking students and to keep traffic moving as efficiently as possible, please do not park along Coles Crossing Drive, Coles Crossing Drive North, or in the Coles Crossing Pool parking lot and walk your student to or from campus. If you arrive in a vehicle, please utilize the car rider line. Loading cars at dismissal ends at 3:55. If you arrive to the building after 3:55, you will need to park and come inside the building to sign your student out. ID is also required.

Pedestrian & Traffic Safety

Please always yield to our crossing guards and follow all posted traffic and parking signs around the school perimeter. Our crossing guards and staff members are working to safely manage a large number of students, pedestrians, and vehicles during a very short period of time. Your patience and cooperation are greatly appreciated.

Our top priority is ensuring that every Sampson student arrives and leaves school safely each day. These procedures are most effective when we all work together and consistently follow them.

Thank you for your continued cooperation, patience, and commitment to keeping our Stallions safe. I look forward to spending more of my mornings doing what I love most—greeting our students and welcoming them to Sampson!

Regards,

Mrs. Good

Evacuation Drill – Thursday, September 3rd

On Thursday, September 3rd, we will be conducting an evacuation drill that is not fire-related. This drill is intended to help our students and staff practice safely and efficiently exiting the building in the event of an emergency.

Please note that alarms will not sound during this drill. Because this is not a fire-related drill, the evacuation will be initiated through verbal communication/word of mouth rather than the fire alarm system.

Our goal is to ensure that everyone knows how to respond calmly and quickly should an unexpected situation require us to evacuate the building.

Thank you for your support as we continue to prioritize the safety and preparedness of our students and staff.

Destination Imaginiation Destination Imaginiation

Parent Information Meeting Sept. 29th at 4:15 in the library

Destination Imagination (DI) is a global non-profit educational program that teaches students creative problem-solving, teamwork, and presentation skills through hands-on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) challenges. Teams of students work together without adult interference to design, build, and present unique solutions to open-ended problems. DI’s Creative Process is a step-by-step approach that helps students better understand problems and ask better questions, come up with solutions, learn from failure, and celebrate their achievements.

Requests for Teachers to Complete Paperwork for Outside Sources

(Rating Scales, Observations, Areas of Strengths/Weaknesses)

In order for teachers to fill out forms or other information needed for outside sources (doctors, psychologists, agencies, private schools, taekwondo, tutors, etc.), we must have a release of information (consent) form from the parent. Parents may request the permission form from the counselor or through the teacher. A new permission form needs to be filled out each school year.

Once the permission form is completed and returned, the teachers may fill out the requested paperwork. At Sampson, we follow the CFISD’s procedure to send the paperwork directly to the outside source (doctors, psychologists, agencies, private schools, taekwondo, tutors etc.) via fax or email. If the parent chooses for the information to be mailed, an envelope (addressed to the outside source with postage attached) should be included with the paperwork provided by the parent.

These procedures are to ensure the student’s needs are addressed legally and ethically.

If you have questions regarding this process, please contact the counselor.
