Gahanna Lincoln High School
2026-2027
A Message From Mrs. Williams
With Quarter 1 behind us, this is a good time to help your student reflect on their start to the school year. What routines are working? Where do they need support? What is one change that could help them feel more prepared and successful in Quarter 2? These conversations can help students recognize their progress and identify a manageable next step.
Thank you to the families who connected with our teachers during fall conferences. Your partnership helps us better understand and support your student.
Please remember that students do not have school Monday or Tuesday. We look forward to welcoming them back Wednesday, October 21, on an ALL Day schedule.
One PRIDE. One Family. Go Lions!
Because shortened school weeks may affect our normal A/B rotation, families and students should continue checking the GLHS A/B Calendar rather than assuming the regular weekly pattern.
Morning Breakfast Update
To help students get to class on time, we are adding an 8:30 AM bell to signal the end of breakfast.
After the 8:30 AM bell, the cafeteria will serve only students arriving on late buses. The existing 8:34 AM and 8:35 AM bells will remain in place.
Please remind your student to allow enough time to finish breakfast and get to class before the school day begins at 8:35 AM. Thank you for reinforcing this morning routine.
Quarter 1 Report Cards
Quarter 1 report cards will be available in Infinite Campus on Friday, October 23.
Please take time to review your student’s progress together. Celebrate their effort and growth, and reach out to their teachers with questions or concerns. If your student needs support, encourage them to connect with their teachers early in the new quarter.
NHS Info for Juniors and Families
Is your 11th grader interested in joining the National Honor Society? The GLHS branch of the national organization recognizes high school seniors who demonstrate excellence in the four core pillars: Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
Below is an overview of what eligible juniors and parents need to know for this year's application cycle:
Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and demonstrate active involvement in leadership and community service activities. All juniors who have met this requirement at the end of the first semester of their junior year are eligible to apply. Students must have completed a minimum of 10 service hours in the 2026 calendar year.
Application Process: Eligible students will receive access to the application packet in January. Candidates must complete the application, volunteer log, personal essays, and staff/community recommendations by February 26, 2027 at 3:20pm.

Visual and Performing Arts Gifted Nominations
Each year school districts in Ohio are required to offer an opportunity for students in grades K-12 to be identified as gifted in the area of Visual and Performing Arts. The identified areas of giftedness for Visual and Performing Arts include Visual Arts, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Drama/Theater, and Dance. If you know of a student that may be gifted in an area of the Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) and would like for them to be screened for possible gifted identification in that particular area, please complete the Visual and Performing Arts Nomination Form found through this link.
Click here to learn more about the two-phase VPA gifted identification process. Please keep in mind that this evaluation is for identification purposes only. There are no specialized classes offered to students identified as gifted in VPA; however, teachers can use this information to differentiate their lessons.
Please note: Once a student is identified as gifted in one of the Visual and Performing Arts categories (instrumental music, vocal music, dance, visual art, theater/drama), the student is not eligible to go through the nomination process again for the same category.
Nominations will be accepted until Sunday, November 15, 2026, and will only be accepted using the Google link above.
If you have any questions, please contact Colleen Boyle at gjpsgifted@gjps.org.

Need Academic Help? Don't Wait.
Students do not have to wait until they are failing a class to ask for support. GLHS has several resources available to help students stay on track:
Classroom Teachers
The classroom teacher should always be the first point of contact for questions about assignments, missing work, grades, or course progress.
PASS Room
Students can access math support in the PASS Room during the school day with an appropriate hall pass. After-school tutoring support is also available Monday through Thursday across a variety of content areas in room C-2511 from 3:40–5:00 p.m. See the after-school schedule below.
School Counselors
Students who need additional academic, organizational, or personal support should reach out to their school counselor.
Small problems are much easier to solve when we address them early.
Find Your Place at GLHS
High school is about more than attending classes. Some of the most meaningful high school experiences happen when students find a club, activity, team, organization, or interest that helps them feel connected.
GLHS offers more than 40 extracurricular activities, providing students with opportunities to meet new people, build leadership skills, explore interests, serve others, and create lasting memories.
We encourage every Lion to find at least one way to get involved this year. VIEW GLHS CLUBS & ACTIVITIES
Not sure where to begin? Try something new. You may discover an interest, talent, or group of people you did not know you were looking for.
Cell Phones & Personal Devices: Reminder
Thank you to our students and families for helping us establish focused learning environments as we begin the year.
Our schoolwide expectation remains:
Power it off. Store it away. Use your district Chromebook for school.
Cell phones and unauthorized personal electronic devices should remain powered completely off and stored during the school day.
This includes personal laptops, MacBooks, iPads, tablets, earbuds, headphones, and other personal electronic devices unless specifically authorized.
Students have access to their district-issued Chromebook for instructional technology needs.
If a student needs to contact home during the school day, assistance is available through the Main Office or Student Services. Families who need to reach their student may contact the GLHS Main Office at 614-478-5500.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping us keep students focused on learning.
