Smoke and Mirrors: Vaping and Marijuana
In conjunction with the Pine Hill Police Department, we are excited to bring in a guest presenter from the Lindsey Meyer Teen Institute next Thursday, November 12, 2026 to deliver a presentation entitled "Smoke and Mirrors: Vaping and Marijuana". This is a no cost presentation and we are choosing to do this as a small group style presentation.
There are a lot of conflicting statements about vaping and marijuana use today, which can make it difficult to figure out what the facts really are. In this workshop, participants will have a chance to join in discussions and activities that break down the myths about vaping and marijuana. Together, we will look past the smoke and mirrors to learn the facts about these substances.
We currently have approximately 40 students signed up for this and can take about 30 more. If this is something you or your students are interested in hearing about, please sign up at the Google Form attached. Your child will be issued a pass and we will also use this as a restorative opportunity for students to reduce their disciplinary point total as well.
Underclassmen Makeup Photos
Underclassmen makeup photos will be on Tuesday November 10th during lunch periods. This will be for any students who were not in school on the day of the original photo date.
Parent Conferences
Our Parent Conferences will be on the evening of November 18. All staff are required to be in the building. The conferences go from 6:00PM - 8:00PM. Teachers will be sending out their own invitations to the conferences by next Wednesday, November 11. Please be on the lookout!
Overbrook Drama Presents... Clue!
It’s a dark and stormy night, and we’ve been invited to a very unusual dinner party. Each of the guests has an alias, the butler offers a variety of weapons, and the host is, well, dead. So whodunit? Join the iconic oddballs known as Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock, and Mustard as they race to find the murderer in Boddy Manor before the body count stacks up. Based on the cult classic film and the popular board game, Clue is a madcap comedy that will keep the audience guessing until the final twist.
Please join us and purchase your tickets in advance!

Caught Reading Raffle Winners for October
The library is excited to continue our Caught Reading Raffle, a fun and easy opportunity designed to encourage our students to read for enjoyment! The idea is simple: when students are caught reading on their own time, they will earn a raffle ticket for a chance to win great prizes. Nathalia Cervantes and Warren St. George are our "Caught Reading" winners for the month of October.
Attendance and Tardiness
As students begin to accrue absences from school, we wanted to take a moment to remind parents and students of our attendance procedures. These are in the student handbook and were made available in your first day forms on Genesis.
A student who accumulates more than sixteen (16) unexcused absences will immediately be placed on No Credit Status. Parents/guardians will be notified, and available credit restoration options will be discussed. Once a student is placed on No Credit Status, they are deemed ineligible for extra curricular activities INCLUDING athletics.
Parents/guardians may submit up to six (6) parent notes to excuse a student's absences during the school year.
Students are expected to be in homeroom by 7:24 a.m. Students who are repeatedly late to school will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and may be referred to the Assistant Principal's Office. Students who arrive after 8:00 a.m. on four (4) occasions will be assessed one (1) unexcused absence for excessive lateness. This absence will be documented in Genesis for credit restoration purposes and will count toward the sixteen (16) unexcused absences permitted before a student is placed on No Credit Status.
Students who lose credit due to attendance may restore credit through one of the following options:
Option 1: After-School Credit Restoration
Students may attend After-School Credit Restoration from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:
April 2027: April 5–8 and April 19–22
May 2027: May 3–6 and May 17–20
June 2027: June 1–3 and June 7–10
Option 2: Summer Credit Restoration
Students may participate in Summer Credit Restoration, offered during a two-week session in July. The program will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for eight (8) days. Students may restore a maximum of twelve (12) days of attendance through the Summer Credit Restoration program. Transportation may be available.
- Please note that Credit Restoration will not start until APRIL. This means if a student accumulates more than 16 days they will be ineligible for activities until they begin credit restoration in April.
District Policy #5200 and District Regulation #5200 govern our attendance practices.
District Policy #5230 and District Regulation #5230 govern our late to school and early dismissal practices.
