-----

I am Hillary Jagiello, also known as Mrs. Jagiello or Mrs. J, your new School Social Worker. This is my 10th year in the district and my first year at McDill. I am so excited for this new adventure and to be part of the McDill Timberwolf family! My favorite things include spending time with my husband and my three sons, along with playing and going on walks with our dog, Bleu. I also LOVE camping, peanut butter, m&ms, organizing, being outside, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, and Badgers. Most of all, cherishing the moments we have together as a family and finding joy in the little things.

(Please look for my contact information in your Back-to-School Night folder) I am here to support students and families every step of the way!

I am so excited to be part of our wonderful school in a professional role, as well as a parent of two Timberwolves. I graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran College with a BA in Communications and held positions in both the corporate world, as well as the dental field, before relocating to Stevens Point in 2015 from Milwaukee. My husband, Jason, and I were lucky to start our family here and I had the incredible opportunity to stay at home with our two boys, Avett & Harrison, until they began their education at McDill. I
like to soak up family time outside whenever possible, inside when WI weather requires, and visiting or entertaining friends and extended family. I am so looking forward to supporting the staff, families and students in my new position.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors and making memories. I’m excited for the year ahead and feel so fortunate to be part of this wonderful school community!
I look forward to getting to know our students, families, and staff and becoming a trusted resource for our school community. My goal is to create a welcoming and caring environment where every student feels comfortable coming to me when they need help.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION for STUDENT SAFETY IMPORTANT INFORMATION for STUDENT SAFETY

CLICK HERE FOR STUDENT DROP-OFF / PICK-UP INSTRUCTIONS
We thank all our families for taking the time to read through the procedures LINKED ABOVE regarding the dropping off and picking up of students each day. Below are three key reminders regarding issues we tend to see during the first week of school. We thank you for your cooperation and hope that you will share this information with anyone who will be transporting your child during the school year.

  • Parents/Guardians SHOULD NOT park on WILLOW STREET or BEECH STREET and cross School Street to pick up their child. This is an unsafe practice even if the child is accompanied by an adult.

  • We strongly encourage parents/guardians to NOT park in the parking lot and walk across the pick-up lane. The line to pick up students actually moves quite quickly when everyone follows procedures.

  • While waiting in the pickup line, PLEASE AVOID stopping in front of driveways or the intersection to allow local residents access to and from their homes.

VOLUNTARY STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE VOLUNTARY STUDENT ACCIDENT INSURANCE

Because medical costs can be expensive, the Stevens Point Area School District provides families the opportunity to purchase accident insurance for their student through Student Assurance Services, Inc. which is underwritten by Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. Lincoln, Nebraska.

This supplemental policy would assist with out-of-pocket medical expenses (i.e., deductible) should a student sustain an accidental injury while coverage is in effect. If families do not have any insurance on their student, this would be primarily for accidental injuries. There are a variety of coverage options, and premiums are a one-time payment for the school year.

Parents / Guardians can enroll students at any time during the policy period
online at www.sas-mn.com. Please review the short video link below and the attached forms regarding student accident insurance.

Foster Grandparent Program Flyer, explained below in text

You Can Make a Difference in the Lives of Children

The Foster Grandparent Program (FGP) of Portage County has openings for

volunteers to help in local schools for the 2026-2027 school year.

FGP participants help school children in the community develop the academic and life

skills necessary for their development and future success.

FGP is ideal for people who enjoy children, have some extra time, and could use a tax-

free stipend each month. Under the supervision of a teacher, each Foster

Grandparent spends 7.5 - 20 hours per week assisting children, one-on-one and in

small groups, who need extra help in areas such as school readiness, reading, social

skills or staying focused. On-going training is provided, and no previous teaching

experience is needed.

Teachers report on the benefit of having a Foster Grandparent in their classrooms,

helping to keep children on task. Children thrive on the attention, love and support of a

“grandparent” figure. Foster Grandparent participants find joy, meaning and purpose

in serving in the schools.

Candidates for the program must be age 55+ and meet income eligibility requirements

($2,660/month for a one-person household or $3,607/month for a two-person

household). Individuals with somewhat higher incomes maystill qualify if they have

higher medical expenses.

The stipend Foster Grandparents receive does not impact any other aid or benefits

they might already be receiving, such as subsidized housing or medical assistance.

They also receive travel assistance, meals at the school, and many other benefits.

For more information, contact the FGP Coordinator at the Aging and Disability

Resource Center, 715-346-1417.
