📢 EMHS - Important ACT Testing Information for Juniors 📢
ACT Testing – April 9th
On Wednesday, April 9th, all in-person Juniors at Edmond Memorial High School will be taking the ACT test as part of our state-mandated assessment. To make this process as smooth as possible (and to keep the hallways quiet for our test-takers), all other EMHS students will participate in remote learning that day. Since our teachers will be busy administering the test, there will be no Google Meet sessions—so students, feel free to resist the urge to email your teachers asking where the Google link is. However, assignments and materials will be available on Canvas, so they won’t get off too easy.
Important Information for Junior Parents
We know the ACT can be stressful, but we’re here to make sure the logistics are as painless as possible. Here’s what you need to know:
Who is required to test? Oklahoma requires us to test all students who have been classified as a junior at any point during the 2024-2025 school year. Translation:
• If your student was a junior earlier this year but is now technically a senior, surprise! They still get to take the ACT.
• If your student is in their third year of high school but doesn’t have enough credits to be classified as a junior, they get to sit this one out.
• Mrs. Willman is personally reaching out to any sophomores who may technically qualify as third-year students, because let’s be honest—this whole classification thing can feel like a puzzle with missing pieces. If you’re unsure, reach out to us for clarification!
Test Day Reminders for Juniors
• Arrival Time: Juniors should be at EMHS by 7:55 AM (yes, that early).
• Testing Start Time: They must be in their assigned testing locations by 8:05 AM, so don’t let them pull the “just five more minutes” routine.
• Virtual Edmond Juniors: If your student is enrolled in Virtual Edmond, they will follow the same testing procedure but test on Monday, April 8th instead—because who doesn’t love an exclusive testing date?
Thank you for your patience and support as we navigate this annual tradition of making sure all our students are tested appropriately. We appreciate you, and we promise—your students will survive this!
