Be a F.L.A.S.H. volunteer Be a F.L.A.S.H. volunteer

Welcome to a brand-new school year! Florence Township School District is excited to launch the F.L.A.S.H. Volunteer Program (Florence Leaders Actively Serving Hometown). This exciting new initiative connects caring adults with our students and schools.

Our district is small, but we provide big opportunities for our kids. We believe that educating children is a total community effort. By inviting parents, grandparents, retirees, alumni, and local businesses into our buildings, we can build a strong network of support. This program is incredibly important because it guides our students toward long-term success. Whether you volunteer once a week or once a month, your time makes a lasting impact. If you can’t volunteer, but you know a neighbor, relative, or friend who can, please forward this information along!

We offer a variety of flexible volunteer opportunities designed to match your interests, skills, and availability. F.L.A.S.H. volunteers can serve as reading buddies, math mentors, classroom helpers, event volunteers, or student mentors. Community members may also share their career experiences and talents as guest speakers. For those who prefer to help from home, opportunities may include cutting materials, organizing supplies, or preparing items for classroom use.

Please join us for a volunteer information session at the Riverfront School to learn more. We are hosting two sessions for your convenience:

  • Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at 3:00 PM

  • Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 6:30 PM

All volunteers must complete a background check and orientation before working with students. Our shared goal is simple: Our Community. Our Schools. Our Kids. If you want to become a F.L.A.S.H. volunteer, please email us directly at volunteers@florence.k12.nj.us or call 609-499-4600.

Together, we can make a true difference for our students.

Mental Health Matters Mental Health Matters

Dear Flashes Community,

As the new school year begins, supporting our youth's mental health is more important than ever. The new school year can bring feelings of both anxiety and excitement as students transition into a new grade or perhaps even a new school.

We have provided a Back to School resource packet for parents and families who are navigating through this time. Click here to access the kit.

By working together, we can create an environment where our children thrive. As a reminder, Care Solace partners with our school to offer valuable mental health care coordination services to connect you with community-based providers for counseling, therapy, and more.

To access Care Solace:

  • Call 888-515-0595: Their multilingual helpline is staffed 24/7/365.
  • Visit caresolace.com/florence: Explore mental health providers independently or click "Book Appointment" for personalized assistance.

By joining hands as a community, we can provide a nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well-being of our youth. Let's prioritize their emotional growth and create a brighter future together.
