Note from your teacher

Hola familias,

Summer is fast approaching and we have started the last units in Spanish for this year!

In kindergarten, we are in Unit 4 about family, pets and the house. In first grade, we have started Unit 3 about community and community helpers. In second grade, we are learning about the Tropical Rainforest in unit 3. In third and fourth grade, we are learning about the restaurant and we are working on a restaurant project. In fifth grade, we are finishing Unit 2 about health and soon we are going to start Unit 3 about traveling.

During literacy week, all students engaged in different literacy activities in Spanish, including literacy centers, puzzles with rhyming words, games, and more. Also, mystery readers from fifth grade came to second grade to read. It was exciting to see students interacting in literacy activities in fun and different ways!

We look forward to continue learning and practicing Spanish with your child(ren) as we approach the last weeks of this school year!

Saludos,

Señora Quesada & Señora Mitchell

Language Choice Survey for Students Going to Middle School

Almost all students will be recommended to take a World Language next year in grade 6 at Watertown Middle School. We have three languages from which to choose: Arabic, Italian, and Spanish. Students were given the opportunity to participate in Spanish class on a regular basis over the years, and in early May they were given the opportunity to learn in Arabic and Italian during a sample class period. Please use that information as well as the information on the form to help inform your decision about which language to take in middle school. Email World Languages Coordinator, Adam Silverberg adam.silverberg@watertown.k12.ma.us with questions. Please fill out this survey as soon as possible, so we can begin scheduling. If you have already filled out the form, thank you. You do not need to fill it out again.
