Charger Check-In
October 29, 2026
Happy Halloween and Red Ribbon Week!
October has been packed with so many fun and exciting events! From Homecoming Week to Trunk or Treat, Boosterthon, and now wrapping up the month with Red Ribbon Week and Halloween it has been a busy and memorable month!
My hope is that we take time to enjoy all of these wonderful events that make St. Catherine of Alexandria such a special place while also remembering the foundation of why we are here: our faith. Having worked in public schools and having children who have attended both Catholic and public schools, I am continually reminded of how special it is to be part of a faith-filled school community. It is easy to get caught up in the many activities, responsibilities, and events that fill our days, but our faith is what brings us together and gives our work a deeper purpose.
I often find myself getting emotional during our all-school Masses when I look around and see our students fully engaged, participating, and singing. There is something truly beautiful about gathering as a school community to praise and worship together. A special thank-you to Mr. Caffee for the beautiful choir and chimes! Our students love these opportunities and do such a wonderful job sharing their talents and faith with us.
We are also incredibly blessed to have Father Matt and Father Paul so involved in the lives of our students. Whether they are visiting classrooms, helping with sacramental preparation, or coordinating special field trips to various surrounding churches, they dedicate so much of their time to helping our students grow in their faith. Their presence is a wonderful reminder that our school and parish are partners in this mission.
We cannot have a strong Catholic school without the support of a strong parish, and we are truly fortunate to have such a wonderful parish community alongside us. As we head into the final days of October, I hope we continue to celebrate the joy, traditions, and friendships that make SCA special while keeping Christ at the center of all that we do.
Thank you for all the ways you help make SCA a community rooted in faith, family, and friendship!
God Bless and Go Chargers!

Parking on Kedvale
We love our neighbors!
Please be mindful of our neighbors when parking on Kedvale. The west side of the street is permit parking only. We also ask that when you are picking up and dropping off your child(ren) that you not block driveways. We have great relationships with our neighbors, but have received quite a few complaints lately. Thank you for your help to keep the peace.
Thank You for Your Donations
We collected donations of $519.55 to support awareness and support for M.S.
โฐ๐Please arrive to school on time๐โฐ
The arrival time for school is 7:50 - 8:00. The school doors close at 8:05. I cannot express enough the importance of arriving to school on time. When students arrive after 8:05 the kids feel anxious and unprepared for the day. They often rush to get their things ready for class. Not only is it difficult for the students, it is difficult for our office staff, Mary and Mary, as well as for our classroom teachers as the morning routine has already begun. Thank you for your cooperation with this!
๐๐We are so blessed and grateful for all of YOU! ๐๐
Thank you for all of your help and support!
Words cannot express the amount of gratitude I have for all of you and for our families, as well as the greater SCA School Community! We are blessed beyond words!
Through our Booster platform we have been able to raise $46,900. We also received an additional donation of $20,000 from the Jack Roche Scholarship Foundation on behalf of John and Kim Roche.
๐๐For a total of $66,900!!!๐๐
The Roche family wishes to emphasize that this donation is made possible by the generous hearts of the entire St. Catherineโs community, along with the many surrounding communities, friends, and families who continue to honor Jack through their giving and help keep his spirit of kindness alive.
This donation reflects the spirit and generosity that makes St. Catherineโs so special and reminds us how we are truly fortunate to be part of such a strong and caring community.
Once a Charger, Always a Charger!
We are so grateful for all of the donations and support for SCA!
Due to surpassing our goal we will be reviewing the needs of St. Catherine's to determine how we can best use these funds. We will share the latest updates with all of you once we have met with our School Advisory Board and School/Parish Finance Council. We recognize how important it is to be transparent with how these funds are allocated. We will share updates soon!

November Beyond the Books!
๐Kane Hall Update๐
Lunches in Kane Hall will begin on Monday, November 2nd! This is very exciting news!
The classroom doors will be installed early next week. We are in the planning stages to move the students into the new classroom space. We want to make sure it is a smooth transition, as we still have some finishing touches to be completed. We will keep you updated on the process.
It will be exciting to celebrate the completion of the Kane Hall project along with the updates to our church! Once both projects are finished, we will be hosting a special SCA community event to celebrate all of the wonderful improvements to our campus. More details will be coming soon!
We are getting close! Thank you again for your continued patience and support. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you!

Hot lunch is back!
We offer you lunch options from different restaurants each week on Wednesdays. Please make sure you log in to https://www.myhotlunchbox.com/ and update your child(ren)'s profile. This is especially important for some grade levels to ensure that their lunch is there when they are! If you're a new family, please go to the website and create a new profile for your child(ren). Each child needs to have a separate profile. Ordering closes at 12pm on Monday each week, but you can order weeks in advance if that's convenient for you. If you have any questions, please contact Cara Hanrahan at hotlunch@scaoaklawn.org.

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is a nationally recognized program that raises awareness about children making healthy choices. Throughout this week we have had some great themes set up by our NJHS students. Red Ribbon Week is about more than just dress downs and theme days. Let's continue to encourage our students to make positive decisions and show care for their bodies. Thank you for helping to reinforce these important messages at home! Teachers have been prioritizing time in their classrooms to do the same! We value the support in working together to raise healthy kiddos!
