The Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble Scholarship Committee announced on March 26 that Sunnyvale High School student and FFA member Corlee Thomas has been awarded a $6,000 scholarship.

Thomas earned the scholarship through her hard work and dedication in completing the demanding Calf Scramble program. Her Brangus heifer project was sponsored by the Thornton Family of Dallas, Texas. Scholarship requirements included caring for a heifer, submitting monthly reports, exhibiting at the 2025 Fort Worth Livestock Show, and writing a final essay.

Sponsors for Thomas’ scholarship include: AgTrust Farm Credit; Clay Pigeon Food & Drink; Craig Neier & Associates; Frost; Cherie and Dale Hall; Jenkins Appliance; JR Livestock Transportation, Inc.; Metroplex Piano Moving; Oliver Dyer’s Appliance; Gary Ray; Bill and Pat Russell; and The Elton M. Hyder Foundation.

Congratulations on your success and your scholarship, Corlee!

Congratulations to Allison Gonzales of Sunnyvale High School on winning the Community Hero of the Month Award, presented in partnership with Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Chicken Express! Gonzales and Coach Cody Stutts talked with Dave Campbell’s Texas Football interviewer Brett Holland about her recognition.

“When you think about the characteristics of what a Raider is, you're looking at one,” Coach Stutts said. “She has competed in track, soccer, powerlifting, cheer, cross country, fishing…she really does it all.”

Gonzales’ future goals are to study biology and continue cheering in college. Part of her recognition award includes a $250 scholarship to put toward her future education goals.

Presentations will be scheduled from 3/31 - 4/11 at a time that works best for all panel members.
