Parent Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder
To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we want to remind families that before and after school, all parent drop-off and pick-up must take place in the designated parent area of the NORTH LOT.
In recent weeks, we have noticed an increase in parent vehicles using the bus loop before and after school. This creates unsafe conditions for students and bus drivers and disrupts our traffic flow procedures. Our new West Lot is reserved for buses only during arrival and dismissal times.
After 7:30 am and before 1:45 pm, parents may use the West Lot for late arrivals or early departures. However, it should not be used for regular morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up.
We appreciate your partnership in helping us keep our campus safe and running smoothly. Thank you for your cooperation!

WLW Attendance Policy
Did you know that missing more than 9 days in a semester is considered chronically absent? In recent years, about 35% of WLW students have met that threshold. Research is clear—regardless of the reason for the absence, every day of instruction matters for academic success and connection to school.
The Walled Lake Consolidated School District (WLCSD) believes that consistent, daily attendance is essential for student success. Students must be present and engaged to benefit from direct instruction, build academic skills, and develop habits needed for success in college, career, and life.
Course requests for the 2026/27 school year must be put into Skyward by Monday! It is essential that all students select their courses and enter them into Skyward before Monday February 9th. This is an important time to talk with your student about their interests, goals, and future plans to ensure they are selecting courses that best align with those goals. Please put careful consideration into the courses you select as schedule changes will not be permitted in the fall.
Finally, Walled Lake Western will host the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) on March 4th during 1st–3rd hours. This optional exam is open to 11th and 12th grade students at no cost. The ASVAB is a valuable tool for career exploration, identifying strengths, and gaining experience with standardized testing.
Students do NOT need to be considering the military to participate.
A QR code to sign up will be available through Google Classroom. Please see Mrs. Tourikis with any questions or for additional information.
Seniors: The FAFSA is currently open and ALL families should be completing the FAFSA if they are planning on attending any type of formal training after high school. The FAFSA is the key to receiving scholarships and funding through the State of Michigan and other programs. See your counselor with any questions.
As seniors are nearing the home stretch to graduation, just a reminder to all that they must complete their state mandated Educational Development Plans (EDPs) on Xello. Directions for this have been posted in the counseling google classroom, and are printed in the career center. Any questions can be directed to Mrs. Bryant at janeenbryant@wlcsd.org
