NCSA Juniors
The week of March 16, NOVA had 52 athletes travel to Orlando for NCSA Junior National Spring Championships. NOVA had many eye-popping swims and finished up the meet in 4th place overall with a 2nd place finish for the boy’s team. Six new team records were set over the week of competition and two athletes qualified to represent NOVA and NCSA at the 2025 AP Race London International in May.
Throughout the five days of competition, NOVA swimmers consistently swam out front and attacked each swim aggressively and confidently. With challenging temperatures-it was really cold during the morning sessions on deck-NOVA swimmers persistently out swam their seed/place in the morning and placed a large number of athletes into the finals each night. While the swimming in the pool was impressive, the team really pulled together at finals for a loud cheering section both in the stands and behind the lanes. NOVA’s enthusiasm from swimmers was incredible and a big part of the team’s success over the week. In addition to great individual swims, NOVA relays also performed at a high level and was a big part of the team’s accomplishments.
Congratulations to all NOVA NCSA athletes who traveled to Orlando. NOVA had many memorable swims but more notable was the energy and positive mindset that the swimmers showed over the week. As a team, NOVA really pulled together and created a great team environment that was conducive to fast swimming. The coaching staff applauds everyone who was in Orlando-including our chaperones. It was a total team effort and something to be proud of!

Swim A Thon
NOVA takes a Spring Break Friday March 28th - Sunday April 6th. When everyone returns to practice we start our hybrid Spring Long Course practice schedule and gear up for the largest NOVA fundraising event - the Swim A Thon Saturday April 19th, 2025. Coaches will send out group details and group goals after Spring Break. The Swim a Thon is NOVA’s primary, team-wide annual fundraiser. Our goal for our families to raise is $110,000. 100% of the funds your child raises for the Swim-A-Thon count towards your annual fundraising obligation at NOVA. This event helps to offset registration fees for our families, support and retain our coaches, and continue to invest in our facilities. 95% of the funds raised at the Swim-A-Thon stay with NOVA – 5% go back to the USA Swimming Foundation to support important USA Swimming initiatives and the US Swimming Olympic Team. Elevate Construction Update
March 24 Construction Update:
As I hope everyone has heard, NOVA finalized construction contracts recently for our 2nd floor expansion project at our Regency facility. We will be adding spectator seating for up to 1000, an expanded Virginia Swim Shop, a massive community room for all NOVA events and meetings, ample spectator restrooms, and many more exciting new additions to our Regency home.
I will be offering updates to construction frequently over the next few months so stay tuned!
Last week, construction kick off meetings were held on site with our contracting team at EDC and architects at Baskervill. EDC has also been getting the second floor prepped to be an active construction site. In these first months, activity will be concentrated behind the walls we can see from the 1st floor every day before transitioning to all areas later this Summer. Activity will be ramping up with the existing concrete floor being targeted first and framing of interior spaces behind the walls. There will be some disruption to NOVA’s operation throughout construction and we will be communicating along the way but this is an exciting time for our organization!
2nd Floor New Amenity Spotlight: The Community Room
At over 2,300 square feet, the Community Room will be an instant hit for NOVA. Seasonal parent meetings, officials training, group activities, and swimmer education have all had to share space with our normal operations at both Regency and Gayton locations for years. With the completion of the 2nd floor, NOVA will now be able to offer a dedicated space for all of our needs! The Community Room will be a game changer and only will enhance NOVA’s ability to offer expanded programming for our swimmers and families!
NOVA is also excited to offer the Community Room to our Henrico County partners for school and community programming.
Stay tuned for updates!
