Superintendent's Message
Loveland Tiger Families,
We have a great school community, and two things that happened last week show just how awesome it is. First, thank you to everyone who attended our School Finance Town Hall last Wednesday. Treasurer John Espy, Communications Director Andrew Setters, and I led a great conversation about our district budget and the challenges we face. We explained how we work to keep our expenses from growing too quickly, but our revenue doesn’t keep pace. We’ve been having this conversation during Board Meetings and with our Community Advisory Team for months. It was great to answer questions from even more people and share information.
Another great event happened Thursday when we surprised staff members with grants from our Loveland Schools Foundation. Our community has been incredibly generous and supportive, and that allowed the Loveland Schools Foundation to award about $17,000 in grants to our staff. Staff members are using the money for all kinds of classroom extras, including a 3D printer, photography equipment, books, and classroom furniture. Giving to the Loveland Schools Foundation lets our community enhance the learning experience for our students without using tax dollars.
Reimagining and reinvigorating the Loveland Schools Foundation is one of the goals of our #beLOVEland Strategic Vision, and I really appreciate the hard work of volunteers and donors to make that happen. Loveland is a great place!

Go Tigers!

Reminders
School Finance Town Hall
Our district is at a point where we need to make important budget decisions. With our Community Advisory Team (CAT), we have been exploring all options. What comes next will be a community decision, and you’re invited to join us for a School Finance Town Hall to learn more. We’ll get together in the Media Center on the Loveland Intermediate School / Loveland Middle School campus for a discussion at 6 pm on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.
Attendance Changes for 2026-27
Attendance is important. Any time your child misses school, they miss out on the opportunity to learn. When they are absent, they can fall behind. The State of Ohio has changed the law regarding school attendance. With the change, if students miss too much classroom time - for any reason - they can be labeled “Chronically Absent.”
What To Expect:
If your student misses 3.5% of classroom time, which might be just a few days of school, you will receive a letter in the mail reminding you how important it is for them to attend school.
If your student misses 5% of classroom time, or about 60 hours of school, you may need to come in for a meeting while we develop an Absence Intervention Plan.
If the missed instructional time reaches 10%, truancy charges could be filed against your student. Their parents or guardians could also face charges for failing to send them to school.
What To Do:
It’s important to get your student to school every day. Keep your child home when they are sick, but let us know why they’re absent and when they might return. Plan vacations and other trips during school breaks - not during school time. Our calendars are available on our website at this link, so you can make plans.
If your child is dealing with a chronic illness or other ongoing issue, call or email their principal so we can account for absences and support their learning. And if you are facing other challenges getting your child to school, let us know so that we can work with you to find solutions.
We know that not every student will have perfect attendance, but being in school as much as possible is the best way for students to learn, and learning leads to lifelong success.
