Thank you for your support!

The Fire Chief visited us on Thursday for our 1st drill with the department. Your conversations with the children about why we have the expectation to be silent on the way out of the school made a huge difference. THEY DID A FANTASTIC JOB!

Staff was extremely pleased with the change from Wednesday to Thursday and although we communicated with the students about the process, your follow up and support in messaging really made a difference!

This Friday, September 11th, Granite Valley School will take a moment as a school community to recognize and remember the events of September 11, 2001.

We will observe a brief moment of silence to honor the lives that were lost, the courage and sacrifice of first responders, and the many ways people across our nation came together to support and care for one another during an incredibly difficult time.

As an elementary school, our recognition will be simple and age-appropriate, with a focus on remembrance, kindness, courage, service, and community—values that continue to remind us of the importance of supporting one another.

Thank you for partnering with us as we help our students understand the importance of remembering our history while recognizing the strength that can be found when a community comes together.

Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Thank you for your patience as we worked out the kinks of the first week of school. While Monday took a bit of time, we adjusted and now have our buses and cars moving much more smoothly.

A few reminders:

  • If you have children at Quarry Hill and at Granite Valley you will want to drop off your Granite Valley students first and pick up your Granite Valley students first. Quarry HIll will be your second stop for drop off & pick up this year.
  • If your child’s dismissal plan needs to change, please contact the main office at 413-267-4155 and send in a note. The office will then contact the classroom. Please do not directly contact the teacher, including through Class Dojo, as they are not always available electronically during the school day.
  • Dismissal at Granite Valley should be over by 3:15. We are hoping that by the end of next week we are all in a groove and all students have been picked up by that time.

Nurse's Notes

🩺Just a reminder that any student who requires any prescribed medications or medical treatments during the school day must have a new medication order and/ or treatment plan written by a medical provider at the start of the new school year.

🩺The medication must be brought in to the school nurse by the parent/ guardian. This includes Epipens, diabetic medication and inhalers. It must be in its original packaging that is labeled by the pharmacy. Please do not send any medication in with the student.

Please feel free to contact Nurse Wisnaskas with any questions at wisnaskasj@monsonschools.com
